Yeah. to be fair, the was a spectacular selection of fish. There might be adequate filtration, but nobody but the RSPCA know so nobody here can comment on that. But yeah, the tanks are overstocked. Once again, thanks for managing to get your point across without being hostile :P

Yeah, mine's MDF flooring too. I think my house was built in the 70's though. I really don't trust it's weight bearing capacity but it's done alright so far with my fairy elephant husband bouncing about on it!

It might be a good idea to either feed very lightly or not at all. It shouldn't hurt them, I recently went on holiday to Scotland and didn't feed my fish for 4 days and they were fine!

Yeah invaders idea is a good one - make sure the mesh is fairly large or half the muck won't go up. Or just use the hose by itself and wiggle it over the gravel, veeerry gently disturbing it

I used to just use the clear plastic tube that came with my gravel vac - do you have a hose pipe?

They seem to have so much character! Not that other fish don't of course, but it seems so much more pronounced with Oscars - perhaps because they're so much bigger.

By the way shelagh, I adore your oscars. There's one in my LFS nearly fully grown (Red Tiger?) that is all by himself and looks so utterly adorable I just want to hug him. And they have 3inch babies too :hyper: I need a bigger house :blink:

Well I think that might be a route to take in the future if I go back and see them grossly overstocked as they were before - but I don't think a small screechy woman shouting at a fish shop manager in the middle of a busy Saturday would've gone down well :hyper:

Well I can't speak for his experience, but mine hasn't really touched the wood - maybe because he's too small - however if he did it'd take a heck of a lot of sucking for him to eat my bogwood :D
