    Pressurized Co2 System

Thanks again for your help. I just got a co2 system with solenoid. At night can I just unplug it or do I have to shut off the valve as well?

    Cycling And Low Ph

I did the wc, and the next day the ammonia was back... I'm beginning to lose patience, but at least it's giving the HC some time to carpet...(got to keep my chin up). Anyone have any other advice? Should I continue to do wc's?

    Pressurized Co2 System

Not yet, but I've been reading about the regulators that SUMO has, and it is beginning to sound very tempting, although a bit pricey. Please excuse the noob-ness but what does the solenoid do? Does it allow me to shut off the co2 when I want?

    Cycling And Low Ph

Thanks Miss Wiggle. I'm do that tonight. Hopefully by tomorrow morning the ammonia will be all absorbed. I did a nitrite test last night as well, but it still read 0.

    Cycling And Low Ph

Good news - the ammonia levels read 0 today! After many many WC's, I think the ammonia has finally stopped leeching. I did another water change tonight, and hopefully the ammonia will stay at 0 in the next few days. If it doesn't go up, does that mean I'm good to start stocking the tank? The...

    Pressurized Co2 System

I got cha. Now how would you attached the needle valve to the regulator? With some tubing?

    Pressurized Co2 System

Thanks Aaron. http://www.kegworks.com/product.php?produc...=427&page=1 Would this regulator be good? Or do I still have to get a needle valve for it?

    Pressurized Co2 System

Thanks for the quick response. I found a cheap tank on craigslist that comes with a regulator. Assuming that it works, is there a link to a proper needle valve?

    Pressurized Co2 System

Gday all. I have a real simple question that needs an answer. If I want to go with a pressurized co2 system, is all I need a tank with co2, a regulator (will any regulator work?), bubble counter, co2 lines, and a diffuser? Short, and long answers are more than welcome! Thanks!

    Cycling And Low Ph

Another update. I did another 80% water change over the weekend, and the ammonia is back up to 4. I was stumped for a bit, but I finally realized that I am falling victim to the infamous ammonia spike ADA comes with. So I suppose I will continue to do some water changes. I just hate that...

    Cycling And Low Ph

Is there a specific type of baking soda, or can any run of the mill baking soda work? Also how much baking soda should I put into the filter bag? Thanks for answering my questions. :)

    Cycling And Low Ph

Well, I just checked the ammonia levels again last night, and it's still at 4. The plants doesn't seem like it's taking in the ammonia. I may just have to get some crushed coral to get this cycle process moving. How much do they normally cost?

    Cycling And Low Ph

The strange thing is that the plants do not seem to be absorbing the ammonia. It's staying around 4. Any thoughts?

    Cycling And Low Ph

Well I did about a 90% water change over the weekend. I managed to get the PH up to 6.4. But it dropped back down to 6 or below over night. Ammonia levels are still at a constant 4. I'm just going to leave the tank alone until the plants establish themselves nicely. Or at least until the...

    Cycling And Low Ph

LOL over the course of a year. That's just grand! ;) Miss Wiggles and waterdrop posting right after one another. It's like a tag team. Thank ya'll. If the ada soil will constantly lower my ph, would it be even possible for me to do a complete cycle? Does that mean I would have to do a wc...

    Potted Plants

I'm fairly new to live plants, but yes you should take them out of their pots before you plant them. The most frustrating part is removing the wool. I try to not rip off the roots along with it but sometimes it is unavoidable.

    Cycling And Low Ph

I got home and was tired last night, I didn't get a chance to do the big water change. Hopefully I'll get to it tonight, or over the weekend. The ammonia is still at a steady 4, I didn't even bother with the ph test. ;) I think I will give the cycling another go. Do a "huge" water change and...

    Cycling And Low Ph

If that is the case, should I rely on a silent cycle? Just let my plants take care of the ammonia?

    Cycling And Low Ph

Thanks BTT and waterdrop. All very helpful info! My ph prior to adding the co2 was already at 6, which is what confuses me the most. I'm told that the Amazonia II has been known to fiddle with the ph from time to time. So perhaps that is what started the drop in the first place? Luckily...

    Cycling And Low Ph

Thank you waterdrop. Would doing such a large water change shock the plants at all, considering that the water temps are the nearly the same.

    Cycling And Low Ph

Tis true! so far the ammonia seems to be at a steady 4 with 0 nitrites and 0 nitrates. PH still seems low, I didnt have enough time to do another water change last night. Looking to do a large, maybe a 50%, water change tonight.

    Cycling And Low Ph

Wow great bit of information! Thanks all. I'm fairly certain that the PH is at 6 mainly because the color matches spot on to the card. I'll do another water change tonight, in hopes of raising the ph back up. I haven't checked the status since last night's pwc yet. Who would have thought...

    Cycling And Low Ph

Gday all. I'm in the process of cycling my tank with fish flakes. So far it is my 2nd week of cycling with the ammonia at 4. I haven't seen the nitrite spike yet, but patiently awaiting for it. My problem at the moment is that the ph is at a constant low. It has stayed at 6 for a long time...

    Fishless Cycling

Would Walgreen's brand clear ammonia work? I forgot what the ingredients were. But I can take a quick picture of it later on during the day. Thanks! Edit: Walgreen's Clear Ammonia does not work. I shook the bottle, and it foamed.
