Cool, thanks. How big is big enough?

Hey all, My Java Ferns seem to have roots growing out of the tips of the leaves?! I'm guessing this is part of the reproduction of the plant, but, um, any tips would be great... like, when do i replant them, do i have to cut them off etc?! Cheers, Luke

My corys are hilarious -- far from being bottom feeders they keep swimming really hard to get to the filter output at top of the tank, and then ride the wave from it all the way across my 4foot tank! Has anyone else seen this before?!

Duly noted. I've just picked up my first fish! 10x Rosy Tetras (hilarious little things, full of character - only been in there a few hours and the males are already pestering the females continually) and 5x Albino Cories. Any general advice on these? I figure I'll see how these get along...

I hear you bud, mine's about 250 litres... my nitrites have dropped slightly since the water change, still about 3. I'm going to keep the amm at around 2.5ppm I've already got lots of nitrate, so i know something is happening, but just need the nitrite to start dropping off! Lots of time to...

Cycle has been going for 19 days now, the ammonia i add is fully processed within 12 hours, but my nitrites still aren't reducing. Probably just being impatient... Have done 1 50% waterchange during the cycle - think another would help? Cheers!

Developments: Still processing 5ppm of ammonia to 0ppm in 24 hours No change on my nitrites, still way up there! Suddenly I have some small transparent snails wandering around the tank... they took a while to show themselves. White fungus stuff on mopani reducing Very dark green algae cropping...

Cool, just done 50% water change, and rebumped the ammonia back up to 5ppm. Will keep you posted on how this affects my cycle. On a superficial side - my tank looks lovely and clean! I want fish in it. Be patient... ha!

Ah ok, thanks... doing a water change won't affect the cycling process I guess? My tank is now processing ammonia from about 4ppm to 0 in 24 hours... it's only a matter of time before the nitrites drop right?! Cheers guys, all the help is great.

Thanks guys, I will add a little ammonia tomorrow to keep the levels up at around 2ppm, and wait until the nitrite drops... this could take up to a week right? once that happens, and the ammonia then added disappears in 12ish hours i can add some fish? i'm not going to completely stock the tank...

Hi, I'm having trouble finding anywhere that sells pure ammonia (need it for my fishless cycle)... any tips? I found this stuff in Robert Dyas, but it didn't list any ingredients... it was 35% - so what was the rest?! Would prefer to buy online if possible... what have you used in the past...
