Mistake In Adding Salt - Advice Needed.

When you do add salt make sure it is aquarium salt. You said you added the 9 tablespoons. If you add salt from scratch do not add the entire amount all at once AND more importantly never add salt directly to the tank. Let it disolve first in water then add the water with the salt in it...

Tank Still Not Fully Cycled 6 Weeks After Power Cut

I live in south Texas!! It is cool here about 3 months of the year. The rest of the time it is hot to very hot. You are correct that it needs to be refrigerated. Many of the pet shops around here use it in setting up there own tanks and a few have it on hand all the time. Have not gotten...

Tank Still Not Fully Cycled 6 Weeks After Power Cut

If you can get it try Bio Spira. It is a live culture and therefore it will be refrigerated. I have cycled many tanks and Bio Spira is the only product that cycles a tank in about 2 weeks. You may or may not be able to get it.

    Antibiotics

Thanks for your response. If you look at my post in the Catfish forum "Albino Cory Problem" you will see I have no earthly idea what the problem or disease is. I really do not know if there is a disease maybe my use of water sans minerals has been causing the problem. Some have suggested...

    Antibiotics

Hi people!! Does anyone have any experiences with the use of antibiotics that are easy on the biological filter? Sometimes the cure may be worse than the disease. I may want to treat my 90 gallon tank but am afraid of destroying the biological filtration. Any suggestions please?

Buying Ro Water Vs Treating Tap Water

Rabbut you are absolutely correct!! I am weaning myself off RO water. Right now I am using 50% RO and 50% soft water. I will go to 100% non softened water. Where the problem lies is when one reads about the specific likes and dislikes of specif fish. Some like soft water while others like...

    Water Dechlorinator Problems?

Today I posted in the Catfish forum about my problem with disappearing fins and barbels from my Albino Corys. I am wondering if an excess of dechlorinator, over time will eat away at the barbles and fins on a bottom dweller such as an Albino Cory. Most dechlorinators are some sulfite...

Buying Ro Water Vs Treating Tap Water

I use RO/DI water mixed 50/50 with tap water. The RO/DI water is devoid of many electrolytes that the fish need. Namely Ca++ and Mg++. By mixing it with tap water I am putting back in the electrolytes. Over time pure RO/DI water will adversly affect the fish. Not good!! My RO/DI water...

    Albino Cory Problem

I want to add that this problem is in 2 of my tanks. They have the same parameters and affects only my corys. May sound ridiculous I know. I am wondering if it is not a problem that came with the fish. I have had them about 1 year and got all of them from the same place.

    Albino Cory Problem

Hello everyone!! I seem to have a problem that seems to be specific to my albino corys. They begin to lose their barbels then there fins. They end up looking like they have been shaved of barbels and fins. Otherwise they feed well and are active. They just look terrible and cannot figure...
