here are some pics with and without the hood and the standard t8 lighting 30w each im i a bit concerned the arcadia luminaire 4 x 54 w wont penertrate deep eneogh its 640 mm from top of substrate to the rim of the tank plus what ever the distance it is from the rim of the tank to the tubes...

thanks for the reply is that 70cm from the top of the substrate to the rim of the tank or from the substrate to the tubes? allso do they come with 2 plugs so u can put 2 timers on or does 1 plug power all 4 tubes thanks

how much does the ph drop running 24/7? what is a safe level for the ph to drop to ? i have a 300l tank im running about 30 bubbles per min now im running about 60 on day 2 ph has dropped from 6.9 to 6.49 in a matter of 2 hours will it keep dropping at this rate allso the longterm indicator is...

thanks for that ive just ordered one online ,i think thats why it wasnt syphoning properly allso the plunger was very stiff so i stripped it down quite easy really and applyed some vasiline to the rubber seal on the plunger its loosened it up a treat .tip to any one reading this dont buy other...

thanks for reply ,yes thats the part mines missing does this push into the rubber seal at the top of the media basket and then in the hole on the under side of the pump head next to the impeller

hi ,ive been into tropical fish for about 4 month ,i have a 300l tank and fancy having a go at a planted tank after seeing all the ones on here lol ive got most of the equipment co2 2kg cylinder ,regulator ect ,and im gaining alot of knowledge from this site most of the fish i have came with...

i have fed them live bllodworm about a month ago the white jumping things have only apeared sinse i gave tank a cleam with a magnet cleaner and then did water change ,i mainly feed them on tetra pro flake or hikari frozen blood worm what are spring tails ??

just finished a 20%water change was putting hood back on and noticed loads of tiny little white things jumping on the surface of the water some are on the glass part that holds my lights crawling around above the water they are, what on earth are they ????????? :blink:

thanks for the help ive got the hang of it now i thought it was nackered , basicaly whilst the co2 cylyinder was off i opened the needle valve right up this droped the 1.5 bar to 0 but when u ajust the other black knob on top the 1.5 bar goes back up and the cylinder preasure gos down...

yes when i turn the needle valve on anticlock wise the 1.5 bar goes down to 0 no problem but the other gauge is still showing 60 ?is that normal sorry i just bought a solonoid from the exact shop on ebay thanks for offering

thanks for the reply ,i havent got the system up and running yet have a few things on shopping list to get first solinoid being one , i was just testing it got it working 30 bps then closed the needle valve and turned the tap on the co2 bottle completly off so the co2 isnt flowing but the guages...

when useing a co2 external reactor like the one in the link do u have to fully submerge the spraybar or take it off and run a pipe down to the substate ?what do u guys do

just about to fit a dennerle external co2 reactor just wondered if the spray bar has to be fully submerged?or ive been told to take the spray bar off and run the outlet down to the substrate apparently the co2 disperses the more water presure there is ,what do u guys do? :unsure: please help
