Ready For The Marine Challenge (again)!

Hi Ski, Yes salifert kit I am using.. my problem was/is adding the third solution with the small syringe with a nozzle fitted. When you fill the syringe to 1ml as instructed (with black rubber piston at the 1ml mark there is a large air gap and the fluid only reaches approx 0.8ml) I was not...

Ready For The Marine Challenge (again)!

just checked mine and it fits both ways fine.. the only thing I see is if it overflows around one way the oveflow will be processed by the skimmer agian and the other it would not..... (I have the latter, the only time it has reached overflow was when I just fitted the UV and it made the...

Ready For The Marine Challenge (again)!

hi fishstick, maybe your skimmer cup is different as mine has the clear side facing out (so you can see it easily) and the overflow is still on the left side. Its a bit of a tight squeeze inside the l/h doorway (the hinge gets in the way when you try to remove for cleaning etc) but at least...

    Skimmer Outflow.

hangs on the outside (see pic) moved the r/h baffle to the right and down to the bottom to allow for DSB hanging on the outside adds a bit of extra water capacity too... the more the better.....

    Skimmer Outflow.

Hi, I have a lifespace 680 with an MCE 600 hanging on the sump inside the l/h door. It takes water from the centre section and returns it to the first. Got lots of pod population living in my cheato no problem, so i guess it can't effect it too much. The skimmer only takes a tiny proportion of...

Ready For The Marine Challenge (again)!

don't want to kill sponge bob but a light pruning is required urgently... I had put rowaphos in a bag in the media compartment of the MCE 600 but it did not appear to be very effective (it lowered the level a bit but not to 0) So made the reactor to fluidise the rowa.... works well after three...

Ready For The Marine Challenge (again)!

Sponge still growing..... starting to restrict flow around the weir so need to take action soon.... I think the green hair algae is not unusual but it doesnt look great. Was thinking of an algae blenny to try to control it. I have a small amount of phosphate in the tank (can't remember the...

Help Me To Stop The Noise

i have a lifespace also and had the noise you talk about. if you play around with the tap you can balance the flow and get no noise. do not adjust the overflow pipe length, its that length for a reason, so that if the main drain blocks it will overflow. I have also tried making a durso but its...
