    Fish Dying

Aaah - how do you test for and treat phosphate? I've never had algae before so have no idea. What shall I do, have taken most of the wood out just now actually (left a bit in for the plec as he's so unhappy)

    Fish Dying

Yes. the kit with the 4 testubes and chemical testing for ammonia, nitrate, nitrite and ph Just done it again and it's pale yellow. Will do a big water change. Do you think the algae has an effect? It's brown and long fronds and is all over all the bogwood etc. I hate it.

No, not particularly - it's an albino plec. The others all looked normal. The angel that died was a gold colour too.

Yes, did water changes each time. Attached pic of nearly dead plec taken just now. Gold severum died within 30mins of maracyn being added, not a mark on her, was perfectly fine this afternoon, am heartbroken.

    Traumatised Severum - Advice Please

No, there's loads of o2, it looks like a symptom of internal disease. They aren't at the surface, just acting quite normally, but rapid gills. The talking catfish did this for a few days then bloated and died. Sorry about your fish, they really become members of the family don't they - even tho...

    Traumatised Severum - Advice Please

Gills look fine, just moving fast. No sign of velvet or white spot, have you read the history of all this? It's a bit of a saga, it's not a simple one I'm afraid. My gold sev is also looking a bit bloated altho she's better in herself today, she looks darker too. I tried to get some anti...

    Traumatised Severum - Advice Please

I've got clown loaches, are they scale-less? Haven't seen any flicking or jerking, the gold sev has got a small red patch next to her gill but she's had it ages (before the tank break). She's also got raised little lumps on that same side on her side.

    Traumatised Severum - Advice Please

No, no skinny fish, they all look fantastic. Not sure about slime diease, tho salt seems to be a common remedy for this sort of thing - would it do any harm? What sort of salt and what quantity. OR should I try myxazin again or another anti-bac? Sorry to bombard you with questions!

    Traumatised Severum - Advice Please

Hi, no the gold severum's not bloated at all, the patch of raised scales is from the damage she sustained after the tank broke a couple of weeks ago and she and the others were clonking about on the gravel. This tank is a new set up, she had these damaged scales but they were covered in fungus...

    Traumatised Severum - Advice Please

Thought I'd update you on my severum and others. Good news so far! the myxazin has worked wonders, I dosed the tank for 5 days and have now stopped - is that right? The fungussy/growth on her side has gone down but she's left with a patch of sort of raised scales, hard to describe, like a pile...

It's just white, tho less so than yesterday. I think it's just where he clonked it thrashing about when there was no water in the tank. The tank looks lovely now as it's all freshly planted - he's a real plant wrecker tho, so it won't stay lovely long! Re meds, I'm in the UK B
