You can grow anything in any size tank. All you need to do is upgrade your lighting , get good substrate inject a bit of c02 and dose. Easy peasy! All about research and avilable funding!

Get some of his old media and stick in your filter and off you go! Easy as that! If you have to transport media keep it in a bucket of your mates tank water. Try not to keep it idle for more than 30 minutes or the bacteria will start to die!

Im up sizing from 110 litre to 250 litre. Im also gonna run a eheim canister filter, which is gonna have established media in it . So how do you think my tetras, in particular rummynose and neon tetras will fare in the move?

Yeh id also say getta an airstone in there quick! Also did you give the tank a good clean out with just clean water before you filled it and are all of your buckets etc used for water changes all only used for this purpose? Sounds like you could have some kind of contamination problem?
