Everything ive read says that breeding them is just a chance egg-laying or two. Ghosties are cheap, tho, if you can buy a bunch (100 for $10 at my lfs) and store them until they're fed.

It's because i have some Endler's Livebearers, they come from a semi-brackish lagoon. I was only at 1 teaspoon/gallon, i've known people who kept cories in much higher concentrations.

yes, do it tomorrow, and every day. I'd even go up to 3 teaspoons/gallon for 30 minuits, unless they show signs of pain of extreme stress. Especially the guppies, they're almost brackish.

actually, most things ive read say they're happy in colder water, too - like 70 degrees. That's non-heater temperature.

You might try covering the tank up, so it cant see out. I did this to my Endler tank with a tablecloth. You just sort of put it over the tank and fold it like you're wrapping a present. Then staple it like that and cut a hole in the top for food and air. Then he might settle into his new home...

My 2 lfs' have HUGE orandas for 29.99 (US dollars) But they have a lot of weird specialty stuff. It's odd that none of your local stores have many fancies, we have quite a few. If you're in a very warm climate, they may not be popular cuz they're coldwater.

that means you have no ammonia or nitrite in the tank... which is kinda to be expected when you have no fish. pH should be close to 7, but i feel it's better to make your fish get used to your normal pH than to try to change it; when you start changing it it gets unstable.

Actually, pH can be a factor too. High pH (basic water) usually creates a higher female ratio, while low (acidic) pH usually yeilds more females.

it's a paddle-wheel that goes over your filter outlet and turns in the current, its made of a sort of pleated fabric. Great for bacterial colonization.

Females build nests sometimes too, and some males will actualy tolerate non-breeding females. All bettas are different... some are crazy. My betta will tolerate froggies, but not livebearers. :rolleyes:
