hi yes livebearers are prolific breeders.

ive read thats a sign of disease but not in the cAse of a pleco or platy they just do that

I think the Fart smell is coming from rotting snails and the small tank .feed them frozen foods any for saltwater fish will work.when you set up the big tank the fart smell will increase but you should be use to it by then :kira:

perhaps your platys is a hybred they can't breed most are sterile.or some fish need insect larve to induce breeding.they sell insect larva for this purpose.im not sure if this is the case with platys.but im sure it something to that nature. no need endlessly worring about your fishes...

WELL KEEP AT IT youll lose a few remember in the wild very few fry survive.depending on the conditions in the end nature corrects itself.just try to meet the conditions.fry are not hardy at first it takes awhile for them to have a growth spert

i had a big male labeotropheus and spotted female and the had fry .when they are scared they dart back into their mothers mouth.its truley amazing to see.when her fry are threatened she carries them all in her mouth :P

i suggest had-a snail it kills all snail.lol only joking snails are asexual you only need one and they can multiply fast covering your filters.they are a true pest.but if you use any medicine with cooper like you did it will kill them.just hope they wernt exposed to enough to killem

red crabs are fun and ive never had a crab attack. maybe your uk crabs are violent.ive even kept crayfish in with tropicals.although i did find some dried crabs that escaped during the night.

It really depends n their supplier . thats where they will pick up alot of diseases.i have bought african cichlids in Wal-mart just because they mislabeled them they were 99 cents.and they had a large selection .they had them marked as assorted cichlid pretty good deal i might say.in petstore...
