Frogbit is a fast growing floating plant too. It is much smaller than the water lettuce and more commonly used in FW tanks.

eBay has red cherry shrimp for sale too. Most are 10 for $30 or so. Pick one closest to you.

I have a 30 gallon EH saltwater tank and they are fun to have. I have some green chromis fish, which look great in the light. For some reason, at the LFS, they don't look as nice as at home. Get a few hermit crabs and snails for it too, once it gets "seasoned".

What about using aquarium salt with live bearers like black mollies, etc? I've read they need a little salt or they will die. When I had live bearers they died quickly without any salt, but with a little salt, they do very well.

Do you make sure you get the new water up to the proper temp to match your tank before measuring the SG? The SG can vary based upon the water temp.

What is your water temperature? Those tropical fish you have like temps in the mid to upper 70s.
