Geophagus Surinamensis : One Or More?

Thank you for the reply. The tank is almost ready to house these wonderful fish and I still cannot decide. 1. If I keep just one... Would it be ok if I keep one Geo.Surinam with about 10 blue rams and 20 cardinals? Will the cardinals eventually get eaten? 2. If I keep 5 or 6 of them... What...

Geophagus Surinamensis : One Or More?

I've read that they do better in small group. But I wonder how it would be if I just keep one surinam as the king of the tank together with a school of some other smaller fish. Has anyone ever done this before? Would the surinam still be active and display its charming character? Or would it get...

Green Spotted Puffer (and Figure Eight?)

Thank you all for the reply. I've returned the GPS to the LFS since obviously I don't have the right set up for him. I will be setting up a new tank for F8 soon. And will let you all know how it goes. Thanks again.

Green Spotted Puffer (and Figure Eight?)

I've got a Green Spotted Puffer living in a community fresh water tank. He seems fine and have great appetite for snails and frozen blood worm. The LFS sold me the GSP in plain fresh water, claiming that the puffer has been "converted" But after some research, am I correct to say that...

    Geophagus Surinamensis

I've been trying to find information about Geophagus Surinamensis, but cannot find much on the internet. Can someone please guide me to the right resource? I'm more interested in replicating their natural habitat. And does anyone has personal experience with them? Thank you. ^_^

    Frozen Blood Worm And Mbuna

Oh no! I woke up this morning to find one demasoni died, though I'm not sure what was the caused. It could be because of the aggresiveness in the tank, or could it possibly because of the blood worm? Whatever the case, I'll never feed them blood worm again.

    Frozen Blood Worm And Mbuna

For the first time, today I fed my mbunas frozen blood worm cube. I dropped one cube into the tank without defrosting. And here came a yellow lab, hoovered down the whole cube in one go. I tired again, this time, defrosted two cubes with drinking water and poured it in the tank...

    Pseudotropheus Demasoni

When I bought my first 14, they were only 60 cents each! It was unbelievably cheap. But the 10 I bought today costed me US$ 6.- each. The pricing here (Thailand) is totally based on demand - supply. Price fluctuation is very common, though this is the biggest jumps I've ever seen.

    Pseudotropheus Demasoni

I've just added 10 more demasonis and 8 more yellow labs (the type with no black marks) to the tank, making it total of 24 demasoni and 13 yellow labs. I guess it's too soon to tell if this would help reduce the aggression level. But one thing for sure, now I'm definitely over stocked. :crazy...

    Pseudotropheus Demasoni

I'm not sure about the size in gallon. But the dimension of the tank is 48"x20"x20". Here's the picture of the tank. The tank is exactly 9 months old. I think it's just aggression in general. It's quite difficult to explain. Please bare with my language... Seems like there're about 4-5 fish...

    Fish Always Hiding

Thank you all for the replies. Seems like my syno knows that I'm writing up about him, he decided to show me off today for the first time! :look: Nah ... I'm thinking it could be because I just added another 5 small syno (unknown) into the tank a few days ago. They move about a lot, and that...

Your new fish are cute! And the on-the-road ones are really nice. I think they send you a free red discus hoping you'd call and order 4 more of them! ^^" I've always been curious about mailing fish. How do they do that? Obviously, not just putting the fish in the plastic bags and throw it in...

How To Catch Praecox Rainbows From The Tank?

I would like to catch all 14 of praecox rainbows from my tank. But they are so fast! My tank set up is quite busy as shown below. Does anyone has a trick to catch these super fast little guys? Preferrably in a way that I don't have to rearrange the set up. Thank you.

    Discus

Umm, it might not work that way. I tried that in my old tank. Sand particle is smaller than gravel, so after a while the sand sinks to the bottom and all you can see is the gravel on top :X However, mine was under-gravel filtration, so it might work differently on other kind of filtration...

    So Much Poop

Thanks for the advice, y'all. Changing the sand is probably out of the question. Too much hassle for a 20-day-old tank. :P Putting air bubbles sound like a good idea. How about air bubbles all the way across the back of the tank? Will that create any down fall?

    A Fishy Selection?

About demasonis: I've been adviced that it is almost impossible to keep less than 12 demasonis in a tank. (keeping only one demasoni is ok.) They are very aggressive towards their own kind and will try to literally 'kill' each other off. By having more than 12, it would spread the aggression. Or...

joloco, hope this is not too late. I wouldn't recommend serpaes. I tried that and it didn't work. They love to nip fins. Face to face, they wouldn't dare to do anything to apistos, but sometimes they would sneak up from behind and nip!
