Oh no! I woke up this morning to find one demasoni died, though I'm not sure what was the caused. It could be because of the aggresiveness in the tank, or could it possibly because of the blood worm? Whatever the case, I'll never feed them blood worm again.

For the first time, today I fed my mbunas frozen blood worm cube. I dropped one cube into the tank without defrosting. And here came a yellow lab, hoovered down the whole cube in one go. :blink: I tired again, this time, defrosted two cubes with drinking water and poured it in the tank...

When I bought my first 14, they were only 60 cents each! It was unbelievably cheap. But the 10 I bought today costed me US$ 6.- each. The pricing here (Thailand) is totally based on demand - supply. Price fluctuation is very common, though this is the biggest jumps I've ever seen.

I've just added 10 more demasonis and 8 more yellow labs (the type with no black marks) to the tank, making it total of 24 demasoni and 13 yellow labs. I guess it's too soon to tell if this would help reduce the aggression level. But one thing for sure, now I'm definitely over stocked. :crazy...

Ahhh ... you mean this guy? If this is what you're refering, it might be worth trying. This kind of fish is very inexpensive here (Thailand).

I'm not sure about the size in gallon. But the dimension of the tank is 48"x20"x20". Here's the picture of the tank. The tank is exactly 9 months old. I think it's just aggression in general. It's quite difficult to explain. Please bare with my language... Seems like there're about 4-5 fish...

Umm, it might not work that way. I tried that in my old tank. Sand particle is smaller than gravel, so after a while the sand sinks to the bottom and all you can see is the gravel on top :X However, mine was under-gravel filtration, so it might work differently on other kind of filtration...

About demasonis: I've been adviced that it is almost impossible to keep less than 12 demasonis in a tank. (keeping only one demasoni is ok.) They are very aggressive towards their own kind and will try to literally 'kill' each other off. By having more than 12, it would spread the aggression. Or...

What does it mean when a fish scrape itself on the sand or on the wood/rock? Looks like it was scratching itself. It would do it a couple of time and off to do something else. :S

joloco, hope this is not too late. I wouldn't recommend serpaes. I tried that and it didn't work. They love to nip fins. Face to face, they wouldn't dare to do anything to apistos, but sometimes they would sneak up from behind and nip! :no:
