How Do I Put Sand In A Tank?

Ghent - I see in your pic that you have a cat on gravel -- does he do okay? Mine is smooth, so I wondered if it might not matter... Aside from that, he has been schooling with the guppies pretty much non stop, so I guess nobody told him he's a bottom fish! Wouldn't this get rid of...

How Do I Put Sand In A Tank?

I got a Corydoras paleatus today, he is adorable. He tries to school with the guppies, they seem up to it! haha I have smooth tan gravel in the bottom, but this week I added some mondo grass, and realized I need more substrate. I also see that corys should have sand so they don't get torn up...

    Post Your Small Tanks Here

I wish my pennywort was still this small! How sad, my gourami who since passed away is in there! Now I just have three giant guppies! I have some of this plant also now, and it has hairy algae! I don't think it's a true underwater plant. I plan to remove it, it gets squishy. But the...

    Antsy Dwarf Gourami

We're taking your lead! We have a pacing gourami also. However, I didn't have any styrofoam... I cut the top half off a regular plastic cup (a new, unused one) and placed it opening side down in the back corner of the tank... it's taped to the tank lid, surrounded by plants... How did you...

    Brazilian Pennywort

the bottom of one stem of my brazilian pennywort is slimy -- like if you pinched it, it wouldn't be a healthy stem, it would be rotted. I'm guessing that's bad? Also, its the base stem for a major part of the plant ... can any of the rooted leaf notches be placed under the rocks to grow...

    Nitrite Cycle - How Long?

I tested the water recently and there was quite high levels of nitrite. We have done a 25% water change & vaccuumed the gravel twice in the past week and a half; I also added some aquarium salt and a tiny bit extra Stress Zyme. But the levels are still high after a week. Is this normally how...

Different Stories From Different Shops! Stocking...

Yeah, it sounds like tetras might be the way to go. I also meant to ask, what about a female dwarf gourami? I'm not convinced, though, that any of these shops could for sure know which of their fish are females! grr!

Oh! And When I Do A Water Change

I have a special fish-only bucket for water. If I put filtered water in there, then add the de-chlorinator, does the de-chlorinator need time to work, or can i just wait until the water has cooled off a bit then put it in? The package didn't really say. thanks! :hey:

    Hello!

I live in VA, USA! I posted a question in the beginners questions forum. I really want my darling little gourami to be happy & healthy! I vacuumed the gravel a little bit yesterday, and he was so curious, swimming around my hand and watching things. Adorable. Thanks so much!
