Thanks everyone. They probably are planaria then, the fish do eat them when they come out of the gravel after a vac! Overfeeding is prob cause as I am constantly trying to limit my little lad from overfeeding.

Just curious, when I do my water changes and siphon the gravel I end up with hundreds of little white wriggly worm like things in the bucket. What are they? Are they safe to have?

What about Tetra 'Safestart'? This is a new product here in the UK similar to Bio-Spira in the U.S.A. Its supposed to work with 'live' bacteria not the type used in 'cycle' and other similar products.Has anyone tried it yet? Any reports ?

Thanks rd1952 i ave only added ammonia 3 times but i thought there was still enough at 3ppm to serve the bacteria. I will try adding some more ammonia to bring back to 5ppm.

tested again today and am still showing 1 - 2 ppm ammonia. Whats going on, why isn't it being converted to nitrite after three and a half weeks? Have my ammonia eating bacteria died? If rd1952 or anyone can help I'd be very grateful.
