    Milwaukee Regulator

I screwed mine in as far as I could with a wrench and there's about 2-3 threads left open. I don't know if this is going to cause an issue for me or not because it's my first time round. My tank is about 14 pounds and I've been running for a month now and everything seems to be working great...

    Milwaukee Regulator

I have one of these and am quite happy with it. The larger part that you can unscrew at the top of the bubble counter is just where you add water to it. The smaller one at the top unscrews and you poke your hose through it, then attach the hose to the nipple on top and screw the smaller one to...

    Misc Questions

Thanks, this helps a lot. I guess I got a little concerned because I had expected my pH to drop with the addition of CO2 but I didn't know my kH would increase because of it. Thanks again! J.

    Misc Questions

Thanks and Sorry about #3 - there's a lot of info in there. I guess what I should have said was just prior to adding my CO2, my kh was 110 and my ph was 7.9. Shortly after, my ph went down to 7.0 and my kh started to rise to the numbers indicated. Thanks again! J.

    Diatom Problem

Ya, I had the same problem when I started up. The oto's just love it and my thermometer never looked so clean. The had pretty much all the diatoms cleaned up in a matter of a couple days. J.

    Misc Questions

Hi everyone, I have a couple questions I'd like to get your input on. 1. I have a 77 Gallon planted tank with 300 Watts of lighting. 40 of those Watts is with a 2800K plant light. My other 260 Watts is 6700K. I'm wondering if it would be better to change out that 2800K with another 6700K...

    Help With Dosing

Hi there, I'm going to start trying the EI method of dosing I've been reading about. I have plenty of bottles of Seachem Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium, Iron and Trace and I understand how EI works but I'm having some difficulty figuring out how much liquid macros/micros I should dose as it...

    Timer Plugs For Lights

I use a Garrison Digital Seven Day Timer to handle my 170 Watts of Lighting as well as my 24 Watt UV sterilizer. It can take a battery in it to ensure the time doesn't get lost during power failures etc. You can have multiple programs if you want to do siestas etc. I haven't had any issues...

    Out With The Old

I went out today and picked up an Eheim 2028 Pro II because my old Fluval 404 is getting of age, making all kinds of weird noises, low flow and air leaks galore. When I hooked up my Eheim I was astounded - probably because I've been working with a broken down Fluval for so long. Lets just hope...

    Filter Media

Hi all, I've recently read a post that I might not have my external cannister filter setup correctly for a planted aquarium. I have a Fluval 404 and I am using the sponge, mechanical filter, carbon pouches then finally bio material. Should I remove the carbon in my planted aquarium? I...

    5-2-5

I bought a digital timer for my lighting for my planted aquarium today. I've noticed some of you mention your schedules are set to 5 hours on, 2 off and 5 on. Is this the preferred method for lighting or should I go a straight 12 hours on? Thanks! J.

    Fluval

I have a 404. It's not that complicated once you take a good long look at it. One hose is the intake, the other is the output. You just put the right connectors on the right hose, fill the media chambers, get some water flowing in it and your off to the races. Review the manual for details...

    Iron?

Thanks for the tips. The Iron is Seachem Flourish Iron Supplement. The plants were picked up about two weeks ago from my LFS. I don't have that many yet, I wanted to see if I had a brown thumb or not :look: Thanks J.

    Iron?

Well, up to now, I've been adding iron based on two things - one, some of my tips are a little yellow and I wasn't aware that Iron tests had a bad rep so I was basing my additional additives on the test results. But other than that, ya, I've been adding it every day. Should I stop?

    Iron?

Hi all, I'm pretty new to planted aquariums this one being my first attempt. Anyway, I've been testing my iron levels daily and adding iron supplement to my tank, but I'm not sure if something's wrong. I'm in the process of cycling my tank and I have 4 Tenellus and several other plants in my...

    A Newbie

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie to the fish forums and live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I found this site while admiring some tank pictures from the "Rate My Fish Tank" site. I've had a 75 gallon tank for a few years now and its been sitting in storage for a while but just recently I've taken it...
