    Ach! Bugs!

I've got bugs in my tank water! They look like little swimming fleas, and it appears to me there may be several generations living in my gravel. I took some into a test tube to examine, and, alas I've got worms too. I haven't got batteries for my camera or i'd take some pictures for you. I...

    Need Plant Help

Sorry Mojo, I'm a bit confused as to what it is you're asking! What do you mean by "a fast apreader" fixing an algae problem? Can you post a picture of these 'ruffled' leaves? Are they diseased or old? I used to have a sword, and when the leaves were young, they were 'crumpled' a bit, but as...

Finished Setting My 12 Gallon Tank

To echo Ianho's sentiment, I've got snails and shrimp in a moderately heavily planted tank (just 10 gallon), and I started doseing with Flourish Excel after a massive BGA breakout. No problems with any tank livestock. :)

    Taybird's 10Gal Planted Tank

So since we're on a candian kick, I'll explain again that the tank was a Christmas gift from my husband, and thus the red white and blue gravel. Wouldn't have been my first choice, but it did the trick. After the BGA took over, I realized it was in the gravel too. Not really knowing what else...

    Taybird's 10Gal Planted Tank

Meant to get back here sooner, thanks for your patience! This is my little tank mid-April this year. Grow Hygro Grow! Notice that i've ditched the hornwort completley. :) I forgot to mention the addition of a Mystery Snail in December :) I added two little ghost shrimp in April. One of...

    Taybird's 10Gal Planted Tank

So here's the full tank shot from mid January. I've diteched the sword plant by now, and you can see the Hygro really flourishing. I'm using Kent Botanica Broad range vitamin and mineral supplement at this time, 4 drops a day, and they seem to love it! Also, note that Hornwort is continuing...

    Taybird's 10Gal Planted Tank

So, for reference, here's Betty the Betta from January. She's really pretty, and totally the Matriarch of the tank. She's not aggressive, but all fish defer to her.

    Taybird's 10Gal Planted Tank

So by the end of December the tank was cycled (more or less), and I started in on the plants: Hornwort is doing its very best at world domination, and I've managed to separate the Hygro, which sprang to life once it had room to breathe. The sword is starting to do better. At this point I am...

    Taybird's 10Gal Planted Tank

..... So for Christmas (which came early) I arrived with this: This is the tank I am working with now, it's a 10 gallon set-up with a whisper HOB filter, and ..a... :look: tube light... that :look: came with the tank. (My Husband assured me that the sales guy assured him it would be great...

    Taybird's 10Gal Planted Tank

Hey all, I thought Id start a little journal to chronicle my (mis)adventures in planted tanks. What this actually means, is that I'm not allowed anymore fish (fully stocked) so I'm going to learn more about plants. here is what I started with, and got roasted on another forum for it being...

    Bga - Yuk!

Cool, I'm glad we're on the same page. I am not super-pumped about the idea of throwing antibiotics into the tank (also, I have 2 ghost shrimp, and finding a home for them while medicating is a pain in my.,...) I will address Flow/circulation - I have had a current killer over the output of...

    Bga - Yuk!

lljdma, I don't know what the bulb is... it's supposed to be 'plant friendly' (it came with the tank) My photo period is about 10 hrs. The tank is in a room that gets a lot of (indirect) sunlight, so yesterday, after picking/skimming/sucking the stuff off my plants, I put up a bit of background...

Video 10 Gallon Freshwater Aquarium Tour

    Bga - Yuk!

Hey all, I'm a transferee from the Betta forum, turned my betta tank (One female) into a planted community tank. I've got an 'algae' problem. I know that because it's BGA, it's actually a bacteria, not an actual algae. Please see the yummy picture of the gunk that's stuck to my plants...

Before And Afters Of My Little Tank

@Assaye, I think I'm going to invest in the test kit you suggested. I had such high hopes for my strips, but I admit it. They kind of suck. For your viewing pleasure: Betty ACTUALLY HELD STILL ..just for a moment.

Before And Afters Of My Little Tank

Updates updates updates!! So my little betta tank has morphed into a full out freshwater community tank. I've branched out with my plants as well (ditched the sword, as it was outgrowing the tank, height-wise), and have more plans scheming in my brain. I really need a HOUSE with room for a...

    Ember Tetras

I too have a smallish group of Embers. They seem to get on well with some other 'lonely' fish I've taken in: a White Cloud, and a Pristella Tetra. The little ragtag group seems to play nicely together! I wish one day for a HUUUUGE tank, big enough to have a dozen of these guys!

    Betta Feeding Question

So I've got Betty (my female Betta) in what is now a community tank (10G), and it seems that she has some goat genes in her: she eats EVERYTHING. For the last week or so, I've given up trying to feed her her pellets, because she'll eat those, then continue chowing down on the flake for the...

    My New, Old Tank. :)

Oh FishFix, there is no perfect... like music! It's all about personal preference and interpretation: Some ornaments (musical and aquatic) are nice, too many can be overbearing. I know the feeling of wanting to constantly tinker. Do what your creative senses tell you... ...and post more...

    My New, Old Tank. :)

Welcome to the boards FishFixation! I love the Eclipse tanks - I had a System 6, once upon a time, and kept it for a number of years with great success. Your set up looks very pretty! I look forward to seeing who you find to inhabit it!
