Had a look at the Staghorn algae and I'm not convinced. I think this is something else. A mineral growth from the raised Nitrites (tank is cycling at the moment)? Fish don't seem worried by it :)

Is this an emergency? Not sure, but better safe than sorry. Over the last couple of days I've noticed a strange growth on the glass of the tank. It 's white, dendritic and ephemeral (seems to only last 48 hrs or more). I posted these pics on another fish forum and some suggestions were slime...
