    Oscar and Pleco

I've had great results with bushy-nose plecos in my Oscar tank. Currently 2 juvenile Oscars in a 55 gallon (I know, am waiting another month until I move to a new place before getting another tank). Getting green despite a Fluval404. Didn't want a pleco that'd get huge so settled on a 4"...

    Oscar and ropefish?

Thanks for the response, although not what I was hoping to hear. I guess the oscar is fat enough.... Thanks again

    Oscar and ropefish?

I have an 8" Oscar in a 55-gallon tank. Would a 12" ropefish survive in the tank or would it just be food? Thanks

    Fluval 404 quality?

I'm an impatient person, heh. Just got back from buying the 404. Seemed like it's a decent choice for me as my funds are rather limited and all the reviews say it does an excellent job (not considering the problems with the impeller, just in regards to the water cleansing) for the price. An...

    Fluval 404 quality?

Thanks for the help guys. Not sure what to think now though. None of the local stores carry that magazine so that doesn't help me much. I know the Eheims get good reviews but no one around here carries them either, jusst the Fluvals and the Magnums. I don't mind shelling out the money for a...

    Fluval 404 quality?

A local store has the Fluval 404 model 20% off for $110 US. I'm thinking of getting one for my Oscar in a 55 gallon tank. Trying to look up some info online and am getting several reviews stating it does an outstanding job of filtering the water but that it has to be cleaned with almost each...

    1 nostriled Oscar

That is good to hear:) I'll be on the lookout for that. Am still trying to determine if that's what this actually is, as there're no sores or tissue damage visible other then this one small pinprick hole. Am trying to take some pictures but have a bad camera and keep getting blurry shots...

    Bit of Oscar help please

Have always dissolved the salt in water first...pouring it into the tank in crystal form has got to be the worst possible way. As you mentioned even contact with their body can cause burns, so I hate to think of what it does to their mouth or intestines if they try to eat it.

    1 nostriled Oscar

Heh, I just want to see Elvis eat some smaller fish, I know they're not worth much nutritionally. Speaking of which, I'd like to get him a companion fish to eat everything he misses. Don't want a pleco, have a dwarf in my other tank and am not too impressed, plus it's so small another similar...

    1 nostriled Oscar

Thanks for the feedback...I think we've been reading the same sites, heh. Have a voltmeter lined up for sometime next week to check for any stray current. I accepted the poor guy before his new tank was even fully cycled, as it was in a tank with an electric eel and getting zapped regularly...

    Convicts Cichlids

Are they in the same tan as the Oscar or in their own tank? Thanks

    1 nostriled Oscar

Never had to deal with this disease before and have no clue if I'm diagnosing it correctly. I was recently given a rescued Albino Oscar that lived through extreme neglect, was starved for a couple months, then lived with electric eel for a few weeks. It has either 1 nostril or HITH, but I...

    Bit of Oscar help please

Got it. Thank you. Ok, how about rock salt with the Oscar? My local shop recommends it for all their fish and I've used it in my 20 gallon, but while browsing around here I saw a post about it being harmful to cory cats and debateable for just about everything else. Your opinion on that too...

    Bit of Oscar help please

Thanks for the prompt replies and the warm welcome. Stay away from feeders...because of the unknown health of them? Or because they don't have much nutritional value? Both? If ti's a part of their natural diet I'd like to get a few feeders every now and then, but certainly wasn't planning on...

    Bit of Oscar help please

Hi, Nice forum you've got here. I was just given an 8" Albino Oscar (by a friend who rescued it from someone else but had nowhere to put it but with his 28" electric eel, heh). In a 29 gallon tall right now until I move and have a bit more space. I could use a bit of advice about rocking the...
