    Firemouth Bullying

Not sure of actual tank volume but it's a standard 4 footer. This is the first time I have had Firemouths so I am far from an expert on them and I appreciate your help. At first I thought they were the same sex but then I noticed the bigger one has a very red throat and has a pointy ovipositer...

    Pets At Home - Grrr

I don't like pets at home. Their tanks in my local shop always have diseased fish, uneaten food, half eaten fish and a bad selection. I have stopped buying fish from there but when I did they asked lots of questions such as how big is your tank, how long has it been set up for and how many fish...

Sometimes in my lfs they have lumps of uneaten food in their tanks and it looks like white slimy small furry balls. Size depending on how big the food is. If its eggs, they would...

    Firemouth Bullying

I have 2 firemouths which I have had for a year. They were both the same size when bought but since the male has grown larger, he now chases the female far more than ever. She recently grew paler and she had scales missing on one side only as she puts that side to him when he approaches her...

    Just Call Me Mr Disease

Regarding the bloodworm thing - I don't know much about it but I have been told that live foods increase the risk of disease for some reason. I've had tropicals for about 10 yrs now and once I got the whole fish keeping thing sussed, the only time my fish got disease was when I added new fish...

    Just Call Me Mr Disease

You mentioned that you sometimes feed your fish blood worm - Live blood worm (also other live food like daphnia) can sometimes bring disease into a tank. If you are feeding your fish the dried version, then that won't be the cause of disease. Hope your luck improves
