    Crazy Goldbarb Behaviour

Just read this link, I posted before seeing it. Apart from the fish looking miserable, they all seem 100% fine I think its flukes. Such a shame. Is three gold barbs enough do you know? The ones in the shops are so tiny compared to these full size fish not sure how well they would mix. Thanks...

    Crazy Goldbarb Behaviour

My stats are always 0 and 0 for the 2 kits I have so dont think the water change would have affected. This fish died by the way just a strange way to go and like the other one that died. One side of the dead fishes gills did look a bit red with muscus on it I think, the others look fine from...

    Crazy Goldbarb Behaviour

I just feed my fish some flake food they all eat fine. I turned round and one of my gold barbs was spinning round and round whilst swimming all over the tank really fast. She is now on her side at the top of the tank breathing quickly and every few seconds straitening up! Any advise on what to...

    Powerheads In Fresh Water Tank

The spray bar does give a fair bit of movement on the top of the water but just not further down, its probably not necessary but just thought the fish would like it. Might look into the Eheim aquaballs then. They are only £13 not too bad I think. Do you think 600lph would be too powerful in a...

    Powerheads In Fresh Water Tank

The tank size is 110 litres. I have an external eheim 2211 with a spray bar but it gives almost no water movement.

    Powerheads In Fresh Water Tank

In my 30inch freshwater tank there is almost no water movement, I just have the filter spray bar. Adding a powerhead would obviously improve water circulation but would the fish like it and is it worth considering in a freshwater tank? I have gold barbs, mollies and platies. Thanks.

Opps I've found a few threads on this since I posted and I think i should be fine. Would be nice to hear from others with large tanks upstairs though.

Tank Sizes Upstairs And Weight Problems?

I’m thinking of getting a larger tank but I’m concerned about the weight of tank and the fact it has to go upstairs. Just wondering if anyone has there tank upstairs and what size tank you have. Obviously all houses will be different but as long as you don’t have a concrete ceiling it will...

    Blue Fluorescent Light Question

I found a few pictures that you had previously posted up Aquascaper and they look lovely! Any reason for the dismantling, moving/giving up marine etc?

    Gold Barb Strange Behaviour

Well they are doing the same thing again today, i find it hard to tell their sex accurately but it looks like I might only have one male and four females. Two of them have the red/pink colouration now.

    Blue Fluorescent Light Question

So you have three types of lights in your tank aquascaper, I take it you have corals in there. Any pictures? Sounds like a good idea with the fazed lighting I do a similar thing with room lights on my FW at the moment.

    Blue Lighting

I think a moonlight and a blue tube a bit different. I could be wrong but normally the marine tanks use a blue light as well as a white light to create the same colour range as the sea. I was thinking of adding a blue tube to my tank for the looks but I'm not sure. Moonlights normally arent...

    Flake Food- Too Large?

I always crush the food up for them. I have some quite small fish and when I feed frozen worms I try to cut them up as they end up sticking out of there mouths as they are too big. My fish seem to like the red flakes more than any of the others and ofter spit out food.

How "on Top" Of Everything Are You?

I dont really have a strict schedule but then in FW its not quite as import as SW. I do a water change, plant trim and clean the algae every week give or take a few days but the levels are always fine so i'm sure it would go longer without a problem.

Blue Fluorescent Lights In A Freshwater Tank

I was going to have both the blue and white lights but I'm not so sure now! Let us know what the moon lights you ordered are like and perhaps get some picutures up?

That’s a good point I think I might stick with the lighting I have in the freshwater. Thanks for the responses.

Blue Fluorescent Lights In A Freshwater Tank

I think I might add a blue tube for daytime use first as I feel it will give a really nice look to the tank like the marine tanks have. Then may go for the moonlight tubes? My concern is my hood isn’t much good at housing more than more one tube so i'll have to see what I can do or get a new hood.

Blue Fluorescent Lights In A Freshwater Tank

    Blue Fluorescent Light Question

Thanks for the reply princess, I'm not sure what VHO, PC or T5 fluorescents are so more research for me! Although the tank I have in mind will contain only live rock and fish at least at this stage of planning.

    Blue Fluorescent Light Question

Thanks for the replies, very interesting. Thats probably why the marine tanks I look at in the shops seem to look SO much better than the tropical tanks. I wonder if theres any benefit of adding one of these to a freshwater tropical tank? Am I right in thinking some people dont use the...

    Blue Fluorescent Light Question

    Mixing Mollies

Lovely size tank you have! If you had 2 or 3 males and 7 or so females then that would be fine if you want breeding. If not rehome all the males and get just keep females thats what I'm doing now as I cant be doing with the breeding especially as my LFS don't take them and they really aren't...

    Gold Barb Strange Behaviour

Thanks for your reply LL. The unusual behaviour only lasted for about two hours they are back to normal now. Only one of them has a very clear reddish/pinkish colouration on the lower flank and this fish is a bit smaller so I think its a male.

    Gold Barb Strange Behaviour

Hope this is the right section. I have five gold barbs in my 110 litre tank (not sure of their sex), along with a couple of other livebearers. I've never had any problems with the gold barbs but today three of them are charging around the tank REALLY fast in what seems to be some sort of...

    Platy With Fin Nip.

Thanks for the reply. There are no more signs of whitespot in the tank now thankfully! I have another fish shop that I trust its further away but if I get any more fish ever it will be from them, that why I asked if they had to be the same type.

    Platy With Fin Nip.

I wanted all males as I didn't want any more breeding going on. The fin looks fine just a tiny bit missing and the fish even seems ok just a bit shy hiding in plants. They are very pretty fish so I don't mind getting another two, but I'm not sure if its safe to do so yet. They came with...

    Platy With Fin Nip.

About three weeks ago I bought 3 male Mickey mouse platies for my 110 Litre tank. Also in the tank are 5 gold barbs and 2 female silver mollies. (Plus 11, 6 week old molly babies) I noticed today one of the platies has a nip on his fin and usually seems to be on his own whilst the other two are...

    White Spot Problem!

Hi all, This is my first post but I've been reading the forum for a few months. I bought some platies from a local fish store and they also came with whitespot that I didn't notice when I bought them! I went back to the fish shop the next day and sure enough all there platies had it, and to...
