Where do you buy this play sand thats safe for fish?

Hi, I want to set my 55g tank back up. I just moved and don't know this area but I doubt theres any decent fish stores around here. I'm looking for a black sand for the bottom of my tank. I just want it to be an inch deep at the most, how many pounds do I need? It's the standard 48inch 55g tank...

I need one for my 55g. I can't find any locally in this new area. I just need a cheapo metal stand that doesn't look well.. I really don't have much money and the only stands locally are expensive wood ones. Any help ?

When do you remove the fry from the tank yourself? I heard cons are good parents and I might actually keep some fry once I get moved. Mine has kids about every 3-4 weeks but they normally eat them after 2 weeks.

It would most likely just be some fish. Whatever fish would do ok in a 55g and still look nice. My tank will only be setup for about 2 years so I dont want tons of coral.rock, etc.

I didn't, infact I just used plain old water to rinse everything since it was just a bad ph problem. Just tossed out all the gravel, then washed the tank in hot water and the decor also.

I believe it really depends on your females attitude. Some females are just as bad, if not worse than males with fighting tank mates. My female is extremely peaceful. She just minds her own business and plays in the filters bubbles. :lol: You can't really find fish more peaceful than platys so...

Ahhh. I meant that the males are in their own 2.5g tanks while the female is in the 10g with the snails and platys. The platys and female beta aren't even paying each other attention. I got 1 male platy and 2 females, that'll keep them busy hopefully.
