That was originally going to use it for some sort of small gecko, but decided to use it for an invertebrate ecosystem instead. The apex predator will either be a praying mantis or a jumping spider, whichever I get a hold of first. And more moss because you could *never* have too much moss!

    Bacopa Planter Journal

I putting a lot of effort in this one! This planter is for growing Bacopa Caroliniana(My favorite aquatic plant). I used Father Fish's Aqua Preta for the soil layer, the planter's first Bacopa stems from KGTropicals, and I got some microfauna coming from PhillipsFishWorks! I can't wait to watch...

    Do fishes really live long?

A big problem with commercial fish these days is that there sold sick and, worse, overbred. Playing God has consequences. And sadly, fish(and the wallets of hobbyists) have to suffer for it. As for the getting skinny and dying, it sounds like Wasting Disease: a parasite in the gut that siphons...

    Hosanna Pond

I was going to remove some of the wood growing underneath and between the plants and algae for another project, but thought better of it. I think I have somewhere between 15 and 25 mosquitofish in here. Can't wait for that number to boom in the summer. 😁

    Barrel of Gold Journal

Had a spare big planter to use for native small fish so I decided to use it for a handful of Golden Topminnows. By the time they came, the weather suddenly got colder and more "Fall-like," And I don't want to risk their lives putting them in torpor just after shipping. So I'm keeping them in the...

On average, between 30 and 40° f. Though sometimes, we'll get super cold spikes in January down into the low twenties. But that is only for a few days altogether. North Carolina is the furthest North of the subtropical states(I think). So we only get a few of what can be seen in Florida. Like...

    Cleaning tank with sand

You don't siphon into the sand. Just siphon up the water. Though if there are unsightly bits on top of the sand you don't like, you just go over them carefully to suck up whatever you see.

Question about WC on a snail only tank

Water changes are to remove waste and ammonia from the water column. If your tank is packed with plants and algae, and the only waste producers are to snails, I don't think you should do any water changes, only top offs.
