I would say your Oscar is just pouting. IME larger fish (like your 9" Oscar) seem to get more stressed from netting/transport than smaller fish. Try to stimulate him/her with some nutritious live food such as earthworms or crickets. Another suggestion is to add some sort of stress-reducing...

What about a silver dollar or two?...they are relatively 'tall' and speedy fish. I think you would be best just leaving the convicts on their own if they are a breeding pair. They can be relentless.

Convicts are very challenged in the "intelligence" department. My 4" male black convict likes to pick fights with my 5" red devil, which usually ends with my convict getting mauled. I will give them points for bravery however. :thumbs:
