Well this tank is only a few weeks old ,our other tank sprung a leak and we had to change. Wondering due to swapping everything over and renewing stuff it stifled the the little darlings food chain somewhat. We have java fern also getting a little bit paranoid about our shrimp .:(

Lettuce for catching pond snails in an aquarium... oops... catching more Armano Shrimp than snails

Amano dinner time. There has to be a reason for this - lack of food or the new plants are soft and vulnerable perhaps. Can't see the shrimps this morning they must be off sleeping somewhere after that meal.

Lettuce for catching pond snails in an aquarium... oops... catching more Armano Shrimp than snails

I believe you ...Amano shrimp eat plants and they can indeed do so at a rate of knots. We have three as I said before. Never an ounce of trouble in all the time they have been here. Bought a new plant for the rear of the tank and since it has been in the tank the Amano have turned on it. The...

Do you have friendly neighbours? Thinking use their water to do a change ...makes it a bit of a grind but it might save your fish and also eliminate your water source if no change in fish health.

In the mid sixties I had two acrylic type tanks. they were bow fronted tanks but now long gone. As for resiliconing my used tanks...

Tryin to find last betta glofish already discontinued can you help me?

I think they may be banned in Wales and England and maybe all the UK. Practical fishkeeping magazine started a campaign against dyed fish. Just looked it up it was 1996 "Join the global fight against dyed fish"

A herd of shrimp seem to be the equivalent to a swarm of locusts. For goodness sake Magnum Man don't put your hand in the tank! But seriously I wouldn't have thought they could munch so fast but then I only have 3 liquid locusts.

Lettuce for catching pond snails in an aquarium... oops... catching more Armano Shrimp than snails

I sometimes give mine a bit of veg but never leave it in tank for long periods as it may go soft and melt. My Amano's also spend time on the driftwood and I have often wondered if they actually eat the wood as some bits of wood seem to be getting smaller as the years pass or do they just nibble...

Lettuce for catching pond snails in an aquarium... oops... catching more Armano Shrimp than snails

Well I must say you live and learn. I would never have thought Amano shrimps would eat plants. I did know they are partial to a bit of algae and dead matter. I have three of them and have indeed seen them pecking on plant leaves but never shredding them, as in your picture, but I guess with 20...
