Go check out Aquarium Co-Op for their medium sponge filters. I bought two plus adjustable air stones. Very cheap and work wonderfully.

I have a 29 gallon tank running a Tidal 55 HOB filter along with 2 medium sponge filters. I use an AQQA dual output air pump which even at its lowest setting, runs the air stones quite vigorously. With the Tidal, as with some others, you can adjust the flow. So far, no complaints.

Does anyone here use internal cannister filters such as Fluval U series or MarineLand filters? What are the pro and cons of these filters? Do they filter on par with HOB filters? Thank you Steve

How can you be sure. I’ve seen reviews that say the 29 gallon tank glass hood by Aqueon doesn’t fit

The measurements are listed at 12”w X 30” long. All the glass hoods I’ve found measure at 11 and 3/8” by 29 and 2/8. My exact dimensions are 11 “ and 3/8 by 28 and 6/8 “ Nobody seems to have the length. Even top fin who makes the tank sells a glass hood that doesn’t fit. Frustrating Steve

Cannot find an exact glass hood for my 29 gal tank. Is making a plexiglass hood an option? Has anyone here ever done this? Is this a thing? Thank you Steve

Are there any hobbyists that use just lighting without using any type of hood be it glass, plexiglass, or other? Pros and cons. Thank you Steve

Tank dimensions are 30 inches long by 12 inches wide by 18 inches tall. It's a 29 gallon tank using well water with results described above. Hardness test recently run at 150 GH and KH at 100

GH was tested at 150 ppm while KH was tested at 100 ppm. This was conducted three times using API GH & KH Test Kit. Ran it three separate times cleaning out the test tubes and results were identical. Thanks to all who responded here Steve

Keeping community fish ie. danios, neons, platys, rasboras, etc. our water leans towards being med/hard. Will be planted

PH = 7.6 High PH = 7.8 Ammonia = 0.0 ppm Nitrite = 0.0 ppm Nitrate = 0.0 ppm Are these acceptable numbers? Thank you. All tested with API Master Test Kit. Well water Steve
