Is this tank ok to put a betta in?

You can’t avoid the cycle, in a 3 gallon toxins it will build up very quickly. You also don’t want to avoid the cycle, I’d use bottled bacteria or drop in a bag of cycled media if your doing a fish in cycle. I do both in all my tanks and they’re almost always cycled immediately, within a day...

Ammonia not going down as fast as it used to

You’re really cycling your tank the hard way lol. Just get some quality bottled bacteria and a little bit of cycled media from a trusted source and you can immediately start stocking lightly. I cycle my tanks in a day or two this way

3 weeks in, no nitrites or nitrates yet

I’d definitely add bottled bacteria, i usually add cycled media and bottled bacteria and stock light right away and my tanks are always cycled in a few days

I agree, some of the best looking fish are ugly Lol

    Unpopular Opinions (fish related)

Another unpopular opinion I have is that in many circumstances, salt is is easier than freshwater. I’m mainly referring to FOWLR or reefs with dirty water corals

    Unpopular Opinions (fish related)

If you’re getting nitrate readings, I wouldn’t worry about ammonia or nitrite unless you’re over stocked heavily or did something that might have caused your BB to die off.

Betta Bloat Getting Worse Despite Treatment

What does the poop look like? White, or translucent threadlike poo is a sign of bloat. If it’s eating and pooping normally, I doubt it’s any type of bloat

    Unpopular Opinions (fish related)

My unpopular opinion is that over testing takes away from the enjoyment of fish keeping. Worrying about parameters all the time etc… In my 35 years of fish keeping, I’ve never put a thought into PH, hardness, etc.. I test weekly for nitrates and keep a strict maintenance schedule and let my...

Betta Bloat Getting Worse Despite Treatment

But this usually only works when it’s caught early. If you’re at the point where the fish is no longer eating, I’m sorry...
