    Unwell Betta, Please Help

Hello everyone, I really appreciate all of the replies. I’ve been feeding Octavius at least twice a day with his pellets and blood worms and I believe he has gotten stronger. He still sometimes sits around but when I come up to the tank he swims up and even chases after his food; he doesn’t...

Thanks for the reply, Naughts also said this so I bought Seachem Prime instead as a dechlorinator. He does seem to be eating though, I just fed him 2 bloodworms and 2 pellets soaked in garlic juice so should I still do the salt treatment? I believe he pooped yesterday as well, and I removed his...

Okay, thanks! I just take a worm/pellet at a time and give it to him close to his face

Oh gosh thanks for the advice, I did put the worms in some tank water for a couple of minutes after they defrosted but I’ll put them there for longer to prevent that for happening. Also that must be very scary, hopefully they’re okay! I think these bloodworms are an okay size for him, he can...

Okay, thank you. I’m going to try to get brine shrimp or some other frozen food. I think he does sometimes flare because the light bounces off his glass so I do think he’s strong enough; he was swimming great prior to his current condition.

Thank you for the replies everyone, what I’ve been doing is feeding him as many frozen blood worms as he can eat like 3 times a day (which at most he’s eaten 4). He does have an appetite though, thankfully. I also changed his water again yesterday and I’m making garlic juice to soak his food in...

Oh, I've always gotten it from my kitchen tap and then used API Stresscoat conditioner. I bough Seachem conditioner to use instead now though

Agreed, I definitely will. Also, sorry what do you mean by water source?

Thanks for the info! I haven’t added anything new in a long time so hopefully it isn’t parasites. Also regarding clear fins, I think he’s had them his whole life but I’ll be sure to check for anything that could possibly tear his fins

    Unwell Betta, Please Help

Th Thanks for the reply, I thought that fin rot could be a possibility as well. I don’t think he’s ripped his fins on decorations though since I don’t have anything sharp in the tank and he’s never had the tears until now

Thank you for the reply! For the salt bath, would I just use regular aquarium salt? And cI usually add about a teaspoon to his tank with every water change but I’m not sure if that’s a good idea anymore. Also, do you know how parasites could get in the tank?

I’m not exactly sure what the parameters were previously. I’m going to continue doing water changes to hopefully keep nitrates down. Also, I will get him some blood worms for variety but he does seem to like his aqueon pellets : )

    Unwell Betta, Please Help

Yes, I think doing a water change has helped but I think prior to this water change the nitrates could’ve been a bit higher

Thanks for the reply, I’m going to buy him some different food for variety. I also didn’t know they like zucchini, that’s an awesome idea! : )

Thank you very much for the advice, yes my filter is similar to that. I think that nitrates could be the issue as well, I will be sure to do the water changes. Also, thank you I didn’t know that about the aquarium salt and the water conditioner, I’ll be sure to change it out!

Thanks for the reply, I feed him pellets and will get him some blood worms as well. I haven’t dewormed him and the water parameters are Ammonia: about 0 ppm Nitrite: 0 ppm Nitrate: about 5 ppm pH: 6.6 I attached a photo of his tank!

Thank you for the reply! Yes, I think I might’ve waited too long on the past water change as I’ve been busy because of the summer. I’m thinking that might be a factor in this. :( Im guessing he was a few months or so as he was quite small when I first got him.

Hello, I recently noticed my betta fish hasn’t been feeling well. He’s been laying around much more than usual, and I think his gills are more red, but I’m not sure. He also has been struggling to eat and I noticed tears in his tail. Does anybody have any idea why this is and what I could do to...
