No wood There are some yellowish particles in the water that I cleaned the filter in. Also, there is whiteish slime/debris one the filter. There is also a Odor that is concentrated near the filter. The sponge overall looks is bad shape… There is no Algae yet.

I swished it around in some tank water and it was fine for a few hours but now it's clogged up again. The filter actually smells bad so I don't know if something is wrong. There seems to be slime in the filter that is just free floating.

Yes, about a 70% water change once a day. Everytime I tested it was yellow.

I know that but because of school I really can do anything major on weekdays except daily 50% water changes. I have only fed him once since I got him in an attempt to lessen the ammonia.

How about the filter/heater? It shouldn't matter since they are uncycled right? I am a little more concerned about our copper pipes cuz I heard hot water can make the copper leach into the water. Should I worrry about that?
