    Dying Betta

We for sure do! In my country it's almost impossible to find one, only in capitals and big cities. But I hope that will change, I know many fellow vet students who want to specialize in fish and other exotic animals, so I'm hopeful!

    Dying Betta

The swelling from dropsy means kidney failure, it can be caused by many things (most commonly bacterial infections, but could be many other factors). Kidney failure is basically irreversible and that's why many people euthanize the fish when it gets to this point, but I firmly believe that...

    Dying Betta

I'm not entirely sure, maybe someone here has more experience with using both. But in general, I recommend not using the aquarium salt in this case, I don't think it will help that much and could stress him out more.

Yep, I’m not sure how it is where you live but I think the magnesium sulfate is usually sold pure. As for the sodium chloride, always use the one without additives or the one made for fish. Table salt should never be used because it has iodine and can be very dangerous for them.

    Dying Betta

Aquarium salt (sodium chloride) is recommended to help treat parasites and some infections. I believe it can also help with early cases of dropsy since it is caused by bacteria, but when it starts to show symptoms like this it's usually too late to treat it. Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) is...

    Coronavirus...post your thoughts here...

I truly don't understand why make such a big deal, it's not that bad! I'm always thankful I even get to wear one when I need to leave my house, after seeing very closely how awful and painful this virus is, I'm happy I'm alive and able to be safe!

    Coronavirus...post your thoughts here...

Well I'm from Brazil and the situation here with covid, the vaccine and the government is absolutely crazy. I'm a health student and also lost my grandma to covid last year so I'm just gonna say this: WEAR A MASK! Even if you're also wearing a face shield, even if you're outside, even if you're...

    Dying Betta

Like they said it does look like dropsy. It usually affects fish with compromised immune system, could be genetic but could also be from stress. You could do epsom salt baths to reduce the bloating, I would also move him to another tank if possible.

    Stocking/plant ideas for 10g

I'll probably try adding some cherry shrimps and hope it goes well. I do intend to buy a lot of plants so they will have hiding places. Thanks everyone for the advice!

    Stocking/plant ideas for 10g

Oh ok! Would that also be the case with snails or shrimps? I wanted some algae eaters, but don't want to take any risks.

    Stocking/plant ideas for 10g

Hello! I currently have a male betta in a 4g tank, but I'm planning on upgrading to a 40L tank (about 10,5g) in a couple months and could use some stocking and plant ideas. I thought about maybe pygmy cory and some kind of shrimp, but I'm new to the aquarium hobby so I could use some help! Also...

    Help! Sick betta

If it really is just diamond eye that’s a relief honestly. I know they can live just fine with it so better than being something else!

    Help! Sick betta

I googled it and I'm not sure, I don't think so because lymphocystis looks a bit bigger. It's a very tiny bump.

    Help! Sick betta

Hey guys I'm a new fish owner and I think something may be wrong with my betta Paul. I got him about 2 weeks ago, he's in a 4g cycled tank with some live plants, filter and termostat. No ammonia and no nitrite, ph at 7.2, temp at 79. I change 10-15% of the water once a week. At first he was...
