    What wood is this?

Thanks all… very helpful… yeah it has a milky residue… I’ll keep soaking it. As it’s so big boiling would be quite a challenge so I’ll need to think how to do that… maybe I can stick it in a hot bath lol I’m the meantime I’ll keep soaking

    What wood is this?

Hey can anyone tell me what wood this is? I bought it in a fish store that didn’t know. I’ve been soaking it for weeks and it as you can see the tannins are off the charts. This is less than 24hrs since I changed the water. This has happened everyday for about 16 days now. Really dark and oily...

One of my Neon Tetras looks like it is fat. What is wrong?

I’d say swim bladder or constapated or maybe even dropsy... all can have swollen bellies ... there are medicines that can help if you google it but I’ve not had a lot of luck with recovery when this happens. Make sure you tank is clean and if you can quarantining is a good idea in case it’s...

    High ammonia level

Yes good advice... I have nitrates in my water which I only realised after testing it. I always had zero ammonia and nitrites... but after a water change moderate nitrates... couldn’t work out why until I did this. As I have a big filter after a week the nitrates also reduce significantly as the...

    Cleaning gravel and substrate

Hi, I hope this is the right place for this question. I’ve had aquariums for a while but thinking about venturing into planted tanks. One question I had is what is the best technique for cleaning sand over substrate... do you just “hoover” the sand and do not disturb the substrate underneath or...

    White sand

I guess they are most used to it being in shallow bays with sun and sand? I guess most tropical fish maybe like the plants and muddy sub strait and waters?

    White sand

Amazing photos thanks! I am definitely going to go more natural and a bit darker which sounds better than unatural pure white sand for the fish’s well-being .

    White sand

That’s true outside of a topical marine beach you don’t get it so you are right it’s probably a bad idea

    White sand

Do you mean the white sand is too bright and stressed the fish? If so I’m out as I don’t want that

    White sand

I was thinking black sand but I was thinking is black sand like a black car and shows up all the dirt? Is it hard to keep clean? my current tank has speckled sand and to be fair it’s not easy to see a lot of dirt given it’s speckled nature

    Hello / Intro

Hi, Im new to fish forums so hello. I have a 220l JAD / Boyu curved tank which currently houses 2 razor back musk turtles and a variety of fish (a few mollies, tetras, hoplo catfish and Ammano shrimp). They all get on and there’s hasn’t been any casualties apart from a few tetras in the...
