    Goldfish has growing purple spot

I went to the LFS and their opinion based on what I told them is some sort of fungal or parasitical infection. I am going to quarantine the goldfish and give him a one hour dip and see how it is in a few days. As for insinuating I am rude, I posted in an emergency category and my word was not...

    Goldfish has growing purple spot

According to researching, which I did before purchasing the fish I have, all are within the ideal temperature range of 75 degrees except the goldfish for which the water temperature is about 1 degree warmer than the ideal range. If it was more than that, I wouldn't have put them in. They swim...

    Goldfish has growing purple spot

The test I did on Saturday had near zero for Ammonia, Nitrites, and Nitrates. And I say near zero because the API master test kit I used had barely any color change from the base color. I have been testing weekly out of habit and there has never been a rise in any levels. The bacteria and...

    Goldfish has growing purple spot

It's pretty colorful and fun to watch :) It doesn't seem to have a lack of appetite though I would say it might be a little less active than normal. Hard to tell as I only got the goldfish about a month ago, but while it use to scavenge and slurp up the 1/8" gravel and spit it out most the...

    Goldfish has growing purple spot

Can anyone tell me what this is so I can effectively treat it? I noticed the purple yesterday and it has grown larger today. That's about all I know other than this is a picture of it. Sorry for it being a bit blurry.

    Nitrate won’t go.

The API Freshwater Master Test Kit is a great kit to have and is about $25 on Amazon (usually about the same price from your LFS as well). Test strips can work but aren't as accurate.

    Is this algae?

That's an interesting algae. I will try to keep a closer eye on it and see if it's really being eaten. Thanks :)

    Is this algae?

I haven't had much luck researching either, and the LFS was rather clueless as well.

    Is this algae?

Multiple of these have appeared in the tank over the last couple weeks, each seems to have a big of a "stem". Seems a bit of a weird pattern to be dust right?

    Is this algae?

Good Morning Everyone, I have this weird white/grey stuff growing in my tank but it only appears to be on the glass and looks like it has a stem coming from the gravel. I suspect algae since it seems to disappear (being eaten maybe?) but I do not know for sure.

    Sickly Fish

Anyway, I am going to unwatch this thread. I was asking for help to figure out what was wrong with my eldest Tetra and what I might do to save it. It is now gone, you offered no ideas why it might have been sick, and my aquarium water quality is fine. With aquarium water testing to be in...

    Sickly Fish

I am a little confused as to why it wouldn't be cycled. It went through the ammonia -> nitrite -> nitrate cycle, and then all the nitrates seemed to disappear from the tank. Unless you are wanting me to add a lot more fish to it to actually produce ammonia or add some artificially (which I...

    Sickly Fish

Certainly. It's nothing too fancy and there are no fish over 2" in length in here. My orange GloFish Tetra which was having issues yesterday did not make it. It may have been a fungal infection but I am really not sure how I lost it. A purple one however had a white growth on it which I...

So, assuming the water quality is fine, any thoughts on what I aught to do next?

Here is an image of the testing I did while we were having this conversation. Forgot to mention, left to right follows the guide minus the high-range PH test.

    Sickly Fish

That is what I have been testing with since the strips ran out. The testing I just did today on all four points were with that test kit.

    Sickly Fish

I did, I used test strips almost daily since I started the tank (it's been almost 2 months since it started cycling and fish have been in it for about 6 weeks). I just did a full round of testing PH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate. The ammonia might be around 0.25 ppm at highest but it's pretty...

    Sickly Fish

The tank should be well cycled. I had ammonia buildup between 3/5 ppm for a short while before the levels started dropping and dissipating completely. It cycled for about 2 weeks before I added a common pleco (which is no longer in the tank due to me not realizing the vast amount of poo these...

    Sickly Fish

Hello Everyone, I just registered this morning and did not immediately see where I might ask this question, so I am asking it here in hopes of a quick answer. I have about a dozen neon tetras and guppies (nice and colorful) in a 125 gallon all natural aquarium (substrate/plants/decorations)...
