    Poetry

I've been rustling through some old boxes and found an old book I used to write my poetry in as a teen. Reading through some of them was super cringe and also quite sad as a lot of them expressed a huge amount of pain that adult-me had forgotten about. I came across this one though, I thought it...

    Fish hiding

It does unfortunately. I'm way too stupid to be able to explain it on a scientific level but from what I understand it's more to do with light as a spectrum. Aquarium plants utilise red light but can't make use of too much blue light...however, algae can. OP doesn't have live plants in this tank...

    Fish hiding

Your blue light is likely going to grow algae as pretty as it looks.... Why don't you post us a photo of your tank so we can see what you're seeing? We may be able to spot something that can make a difference

    WATER HARDNESS

Why are we still having this argument? There have always been exceptions and people's experiences will differ, obviously, but I think ultimately we have to consider the environments these fish have adapted themselves to live in. There is the argument that most fish are commercially bred and...

I wrote a lot of poetry through my angry and depressed teenage years, but I love the classics like this one...ahem... Ode to a Goldfish Oh, wet pet.

    Kribensis questions

Kribs are more into eating the algae than the actual plants I'd say, plastic plants are fine but the babies will appreciate the microbugs which come with having live plants

    Is this a parasite?

Looks like the tumours that grew on my dwarf rainbows. I assumed it was TB because they all ended up gasping, not swimming or eating and I ended up euthanising them one after the other ☹️

I'm new here but not to tropical fish

Hello and welcome along! Don't be shy about posting us some photos of your tank, we love admiring each others work 👍 My sprout of wisdom to you is weekly 50% water changes, treat the new water with dechlorinator before it goes into the tank or add your dechlorinator to the tank before adding...

    A fungus among us...

I never really thought about it that way. They come and go so quick that I never get to them before they've already started to perish...I left this one because I wanted to see what it looked like but hungry fish had other ideas

    A fungus among us...

The little shroom is no more. I checked on it a little while ago and it had shot up and had a lovely open white cap. I just moved the tank lid ever so slightly to get a nice photo of it when it collapsed and was promptly gobbled up by a very greedy and opportunistic Boesemani 😬 I have no idea...

    A fungus among us...

I thought this was interesting so thought I'd share it with you guys! This is the 3rd little mushroom that's grown out of the wood above the water surface in my tank. I think its so cool and I'm glad I managed to grab a good photo of it... The last 2 grew tall and towards the light. I did a...

    Fancy Guppies vs. Betta. Help!

Betta fish are solitary fish and need to live in soft water...the opposite are true for guppies. So you'll have to choose one species or the other depending on your water...is my suggestion 👍🏻

It can be overwhelming to begin with, but once you understand the basics it's pretty straightforward. You can still have a great looking tank with hardwater fish! So have no fear 👍🏻 have ypu clued yourself up on the nitrogen cycle and how to cycle your tank? If not, there's your first job
