Hi all, in most aquariums I've had over the last few years, I get this horrible black/brown algae. it does rub off sometimes but it drives me insane. is there any way to remove it? what is it? in the next few weeks I'm going to get some shrimp after my new plants arrive, maybe they will help?

thanks for all the advice guys, the plants I'm looking at on 'java plants' are Tropica which are dutch or danish right? the website seems to indicate they have plenty stock so it should be okay. ill let you know what they are like I suppose lol

im 90% sure it was just a weak fish. I've done 2 water changes since and all the other fish are healthy and not showing any signs of poor water, thank you though ;) I'm going to have a look on amazon for a kit
