    Possible algee

Yes, they're amazing, and if algae can grow, so can hardier plants. Depending on your water conditions and light levels, you can have various plants. Anubias is often good, since it doesn't require substrate, grows best in dimmer areas and is hardy to water and attempted munching.

Can you get a picture? It would definitely help

    What's the issue with duckweed?

    An idea for keeping arowana

(To clarify, I do not wish to keep an arowana at this time, as I'm far too incompetent for such a difficult fish) I wonder if anyone has tried this, but since arowana need to jump, why not allow them? Hear me out. Hang a fine net from the ceiling and keep it under the tank. Make sure it's taut...

My Harlequin Rasboras are dying one by one- HELP

A shop called Petstop. But toxins I find unlikely since I used one of the driftwood pieces before and the other was from them shop and had a little tag mentioning it was clean of toxins, so I imagine it had been cleaned well.

    Pregnant or not?

    Not sure, I'd ask @Colin_T
  7. I

    Pregnant or not?

Actually antibiotics in general. While it could be viral, it's almost certainly bacterial or parasitical. And that will kill him, so I'd say antibiotics are worth it. I've lost too many fish to dropsy.
  8. I

    Pregnant or not?

Try Try feeding him peas, but with the pineconing i think it's dropsy. Get an antibacterial, he might have a chance. Keep him isolated though, don't want to create an immune strain of any other bacteria in the water.

My Harlequin Rasboras are dying one by one- HELP

Yeah probably. Some of the fish looked a little bloated in the shop. We thought they were pregnant. Turns out they probably had dropsy. And believe me I know it isn't bloat. Bloat doesn't spread, kill quickly, or cause them to start rolling around except with a very bad case. Also peas didn't work

    Pregnant or not?

I'm no expert, but I'd advise you to isolate him and give him antibacterials. He likely has dropsy, which is usually bacterial in nature.

My Harlequin Rasboras are dying one by one- HELP

Okay. By the way, I'm pretty much certain it's dropsy. Also I had to euthanise another fish because he was too far gone. Here's a link https://drive.google.com/file/d/14cj-l3zQlzbev_MFIvg4DUHrzexCP6d2/view?usp=sharing

I don't think many because of this, and the fact that in most species the females prefer non glowing males. Natural selection will finish them off fast.

Some bettas, even males, are chill. Lots of plants, dark areas for the betta and other fish to hide and a large tank all contribute well to them peacefully coexisting. I've seen people keep a male betta with chilli rasbora and they're okay. Which is impressive. Don't put guppies with males...

I have a picture one heavily covered up by plants, with an image of plants. I think it adds some depth the way I've set it up

I like harlequins. Do they qualify?
  18. I

It's so fabulous any tank with a view of it has a massive depression problem.
  19. I

Upon looking at wild phenotype bettas, they're way better than most normal ones, with maybe metallic coming in a close second. Even then the metallics with more subdued colours

    Unpopular Opinions (fish related)

Well who's going to buy a blind fish full price? Either it stays in that tank forever, some kid who can't tell buys it and it dies in days or someone who knows what they're doing buys it and tries to give it a decent life
  21. I

You can keep a bichir out of water if you do it right. Doesn't mean you should
  22. I

    Unpopular Opinions (fish related)

Surprising that a study was required to figure out that the fish that glow under a certain wavelength of light don't do well in the wild. Also they're bright colours
  23. I

    Unpopular Opinions (fish related)

Fair enough. It can be done with a well planted space. I've even seen them with chili rasboras doing fine! Although it is largely dependent on the betta's behaviour. Some are just more calm than others

    Unpopular Opinions (fish related)

I'd like them mainly because I like the contrasting idea of a few very large fish and tetras swimming around them, but most other large fish are predatory

I checked it and yes. Balloons look like they have bloat
  30. I

    Unpopular Opinions (fish related)

Well it's better than a pleco, which some people think will clean the water in their coldwater tank. Either it dies young from bad nutrition or somehow grows and eats everything it can fit in its mouth

All of them look like that to me. Would keep if I had a larger tank than my 54l

The **** are the conditions you're keeping them in, they're normally so chill. I'd say something is stressing them out for the to be eviscerating each other
