    Please help identify this fish?

Thank you for the conformation. He actually is a really beautiful fish. And quite big. I will miss parting with him. :( He was somewhat the "show fish" of the tank.

    Please help identify this fish?

Hes in a 150 gallon tank, with a large water flow. None the less, he has become quite hostile to newbies. :(

    Please help identify this fish?

He actually leaves everything that is currently in there alone. Its only new fish that get added that piss him off. I suspect a terratorial behavior. Also, as well, I just recently pulled everything out ( plants, rocks, driftwood ) to give it all a really really good scrub down, and do a really...

    Please help identify this fish?

It was an off name that when I bought him, I cant now recall. It sucks getting old. Anyways. He has gotten quite a bit larger than I was told he would, and not quite as much the community fish as I was assured he would be. As such, has become the biggest baddest mofo in the tank. He has a bad...

    Swordtail paralysis?

When I fill the res tank up, I turn the pumps off, and i use Seachem Prime. I let it sit a while ( and I have a high flow power head in there as well to move the water around ) to condition the water, then turn the pumps back on.

    Swordtail paralysis?

Tank has been up since November. Its well cycled long since. I have had this particular fish for probably 4 months. I use the full range of API test kits. As for my water change system. I just have a pump that pumps a set amount of water out of the tank into a sink every day ( 7 gallons a...

    Swordtail paralysis?

I should add also that i have run water tests, and as far as that goes. my water tests out perfect. I have an automated water change system that changes out 90% of the water in the tank over a month period. Filter cleaning happens roughly monthly. Been a little bit more lately cause i have had...

    Swordtail paralysis?

I have noticed a really odd thing in one of my female swordtails. She used to be quite active, but the last few days I have noticed her just sitting on the bottom of the tank. I can see no signs of any obvious wounds, or even sickness in behavior. But what I have noticed is that her tail (...

    My tank is doomed...

I use Ich-X in my tank when I had an outbreak in my 150, and I have both live plants and snails and plecos and cory cats, and all had no issues. And take some heart. Yes, getting a big tank up and running can certainly be a trial, ( automate as much as possible imo ) once you get it all working...

how to put co2 into a gravity/overflow sump system for freshwater without going through tons of co2?

Is there any good way to do this? All the systems I look at are made for cannister filters. I understand the off gassing issues presented. Would it be best to inject right into the tank? I would prefer not to, but I can see that as a viable alternative. I am really trying to keep anything out...

How do you recognize Dwarf Gourami disease?

Makes sense. I do have a golden gourami in there, and he is SUPER cool. He has a birth defect that connected his under fin and his tail fin as one, so he looks like more a knife fish. Super cool and fairly unique.

How do you recognize Dwarf Gourami disease?

I am not sure what you mean by a Labyrinth fish? Either way, I dont think o2 is the problem. There should be plenty, especially in the main tank. Main tank is filled to the brim with live plants. I have 2 power heads at the top to disrupt water tension for o2/co2 exchange. In the sump, I...

How do you recognize Dwarf Gourami disease?

I change out 6 gallons a day, 35 gallons a week ( auto water change system ) , 140 gallons a month ( for a 150 gallon tank ). Filter turns over about 500GPH. Rinsed in tank water monthly. The tank sits at a solid 80 almost all the time. It dips down to 79 at night sometimes when its cold. But...

How do you recognize Dwarf Gourami disease?

Its a large tank with a lot of fish in it. Its very hard for me to track any individual fishes actions im afraid on a daily basis. Plus I use an auto feeder anyways, so I rarely actually see them get fed.

How do you recognize Dwarf Gourami disease?

So, I have gone through 2 Dwarf Gouramis in 5 months now. The second one is in the process of dying. I have put him into a quarantine tank, but I am not really sure what to do for him. He just kind of swims around for a few seconds, rights himself, and then stops swimming and floats back to...

    Tank maintenance

Also, I second the non replacement of filter monthly. Just rinse it in tank water once a month and call it a day.

    Tank maintenance

I use Seachem Prime as a water treatment for the chlorine in my tap water in my already established tank, and thats it.
