    starting an endler livebearer tank

i should also mention that originally my fish were supposed to take two weeks as i stated in an earlier reply but then the company told me 2 days so i asked them to hold off for a week so i could at least try to start a cycle (and unrealistically try to finish it lol). so they'll be here monday

    starting an endler livebearer tank

i have hard water. i live in vegas. i do use dechlorinator and i have accepted the fact a fish in cycle is my only option at this point and it's okay, it was my first time with shrimp and i didn't do enough research. that was my fault. maybe later on i'll add shrimp. it is good to know endlers...

i have plenty of food ready but unfortunately my shrimp didn't survive and my tank is still cycling but it's making progress. i have nitrates at least. also, i was able to delay my shipment of fish for a week so they'll be arriving next monday.

    starting an endler livebearer tank

i should also mention i got six fish (3 female and 3 male), 10 shrimp (blue dream), and one pagoda nerite snail (i think the snail is arriving with the fish cause they're from the same company and were part of the same order).

    starting an endler livebearer tank

hey guys! so i'm starting a new tank with endler livebearers but i have one problem. i'm ordering everything online and i ordered the fish, shrimp, and a snail. the problem is that my shrimp are arriving way earlier than my fish are. the fish are gonna take 2 weeks to arrive and the shrimp are...

    looking for live snails

hi! if this is even allowed, i'm looking to see if anyone on here sells live snails. i have pea puffers and my local pet stores seem to have very few or no snails. they're pretty young so i don't know if i can feed them normal sized snails (nerites and such). if it isn't wiggling they don't seem...

added live plants to a fishless cycling tank

UPDATE: my plants have been getting significant growth. i've had a few pea puffers in my tank for about four days and have checked my ammonia levels and have had nothing consistently even with all the feedings with snails and shrimp. i'm gonna be honest, i got impatient and used an ammonia...

  18. M

added live plants to a fishless cycling tank

my ammonia won't go down at all. i haven't added any since last week. it just stays high no matter what. should i do a water change? i did before i added plants too.

added live plants to a fishless cycling tank

you said to check my water when there is growth from my plants. what would be considered good enough for fish after i do that?

added live plants to a fishless cycling tank

I just checked my fertilizer and that toxic chemical is not in there. It's just micronutrient fertilizer.

added live plants to a fishless cycling tank

i honestly didn't know silent cycling was a thing otherwise, i would have done it from the start. SOOO much less work.

added live plants to a fishless cycling tank

i wanna do the silent cycle. so i'm just waiting for all my ammonia to be gone and my plants to grow, right?

added live plants to a fishless cycling tank

oh no. don't be sorry for spamming my feed. this is the most helpful feedback i've gotten since getting my tank so i really appreciate it. i plan on getting pea puffers. i haven't decided on how many (i can only have three if i do species only) so i might start with only one cause i heard they...

added live plants to a fishless cycling tank

yeah anubias plants require little to no maintenance besides trimming when they get big. the amazon sword was kinda an accident lol. i thought it was also anubias and didn't read the package but i kept it but yeah i'll definitely be getting some faster growing plants cause i'd like to try a...

added live plants to a fishless cycling tank

i actually do want a lot of plants because of the type of fish i want so i'm glad you told me that the ones i have don't grow very fast.

added live plants to a fishless cycling tank

to be fair, i didn't know i needed an ammonia source until my second week with the tank and honestly, it took a while to get it so since probably week 2 or 3. i was using ammolock which i've learned does nothing until you have ammonia in your tank already. since learning that and getting actual...

added live plants to a fishless cycling tank

i'd also like to mention that i haven't added ammonia since last thursday cause the ammonia i have won't go away. i also do have nitrifying bacteria that i put in there.

added live plants to a fishless cycling tank

hi! thank you so much for responding! the cycle that you've posted was the one i was using. my ammonia levels looks to be at maybe 2ppm right now (i just tested it), my nitrites and nitrates are 0. my pH is always at 7.4. i have four anubias plants in my tank and an amazon sword and my temp is...

added live plants to a fishless cycling tank

Hi, I have a ten gallon tank that I'm currently fishless cycling. I've had the tank for about five weeks and it's still not cycled. I'm new to this and I'm really confused. Yesterday, I added live plants to my aquarium cause I heard it would help the cycle. Before I put the plants in there I...
