    22 gallon community tank

2 Months ago v.s now Have been filling it out with clippings as the plants grow. Starting to look a bit better. The corys and kuhlis have rearranged the substrate but ehh what are you gonna do? Lol Also had to do a 3 day black out as I was starting to get cyano on the sand and the algae was...

Are my apistos getting ready to mate?

They used to be shy when I had about 9 of them in that tank on their own. Then I added another 6 and the apistos and they became really brave for some reason. Now they hang out at the front of the tank where I normally feed them.

How do I cycle a aquarium

Pretty sure there's a million threads on here about cycling tanks....

Are my apistos getting ready to mate?

I'll do my best to get all the snails out, the shrimp that are in there are sh*t scared of the apistos so they just hide, they'd be pretty brave to venture into Mrs Agassizi's cave.

Are my apistos getting ready to mate?

Lucky i'm not breeding fish to keep food on the table or i'd be dead from starvation by now 😆

Are my apistos getting ready to mate?

These snails are pi**ing me off! Looked in the cave and the eggs were gone....stupid little bladder snail was in there though! Might have to go on a full on cull of the snails because both times now the eggs have disappeared when a snail goes into the cave.

Are my apistos getting ready to mate?

None of my apistos (M+F Agassizi and M+F Cacatouides) are shy at all. In fact they always come to the front of the tank when they see me walking by. Funny how they all have their own little personalities. I agree, it's probably just them still learning as they've only recently started laying...

Are my apistos getting ready to mate?

That did cross my mind. I'll give it a go! Cheers.

Are my apistos getting ready to mate?

The only issue is their tank is on a rack with 2 other tanks so i have to be around there when i'm feeding the other fish. I don't hover around there for long though, i just drop the food and leave them be.

Are my apistos getting ready to mate?

So the first batch of eggs didn't work out. I assume the female ate them. Caught these two in the act last night and now the cave is full of eggs again! Fingers crossed this time!

Not the best photo but here's the newest build. I took it just after i filled it with water and the water was still cloudy lol I'll be putting the side gig on hold for now. Finally being out of lockdown and back at work I don't have much time for this at the moment. I was up until midnight...

    Mick's Nano side hussle

Fair enough and i respect your opinion. I guess that's why there is choice, you either love them enough to pay $300 or you don't. Material used to make these bowls is one thing but then there's time, effort and trips to the LFS to pick up the materials that i have to factor in. I work 50+ hours...

    Frozen themed walstad jar

i actually haven't read the book, i'll get around to it one day haha all i know is it's a great method and i've used it on quite a few different set ups and they're all doing great!

    Frozen themed walstad jar

Probably not the best tank to teach her feeding and water changes on, that doesn't get done often with Walstad setups with Shrimp  It's actually a pretty self sustaining little setup. All i do is top up the water every now and then and drop the occasional algae wafer in.

    Breeding rack

Might try to eradicate some of the bigger snails in there then. I added some otos in there a couple of weeks ago too, they don't seem bothered by them but should i remove them too?
  35. Mick85

    Breeding rack

No there wasn't any other fish at the time, just the pair. I did see a fairly large bladder snail go into the cave not long before the eggs disappeared. Do you think that could have had anything to do with it?

    Breeding rack

She ended up eating her eggs. Guess she wasn't ready for motherhood :(

    22 gallon community tank

Not much to update really lol It's all coming along nicely but starting to get brown diatom algae on the rocks and some green algae on the spiderwood so might get some otos as a clean up crew. Unfortunately the ram finds my red cherry shrimp to be a delicious treat so i need a clean up crew he...

    22 gallon community tank

I added my Panda Corys, Kuhli loaches and honey gourami from the old set up, didn't want to add the harlequin rasboras or red eye balloon tetras so I went to the fish shop and got some new fish! I added 20 ember tetras, 10 green neon tetras and a Golden Ram. Check out the schooling behaviour on...
