    Tank temperature plummeting

Temperature has gone up but it still low, 72f not positive what caused it except likely a broken heater

    Tank temperature plummeting

I will look into that. Maybe not the best option but I used a meat thermometer that reads the air as 80°, accurate, and the tank down at 55°

    Tank temperature plummeting

I don't know the brand it's just some cheap thermometer that's always sitting in my tank. I felt the water of my hand and it feels like an ice bath. The heater doesn't have any refrigerant so it can't possibly be that. No air vent since I have no AC in that room. The temperature is slowly rising...

    Tank temperature plummeting

I assume it is not the heater I was just wondering if some heaters had a cold water setting, figured they don't but worth asking. There is no AC vent since my bedroom is in the attic and there is no AC up there. It's plummeted way too fast for it just to be the air but there's nothing else it...

    Tank temperature plummeting

So I've been keeping fish for quite a few years now and this is an issue I've never seen. When I woke up this morning, My fish tank was around 78f and now, only about 4 hours later, it is cold enough the thermometer is not picking up a reading. The thermometer has very limited range, 50f-100f...

    Pea Puffers

Those tanks would be good and the sound depends on the filter. I personally use a Top Fin Pro filter and have very little sound

    Pea Puffers

Yes 25 liter would work for 1 Pea Puffer.
  8. Falconwithaboxon

    Pea Puffers

Depends on the tank how many you could have, about 1 per 5 gallons, although they are territorial so be careful if you plan on keeping multiple. Other fish are not a good choice since Pea Puffers are rather territorial and carnivores. They are carnivores so live food or even frozen bloodworms...

    RIP Paul

My Columbian Spotted Pleco, Paul, has died. I was on a trip and don't know for sure why but I believe he drowned or starved. When I got back he was sitting on the bottom which is normal for a pleco but then I noticed a few minutes later that he still had not moved. He was stuck in some of the...

    Frog Abuse

2 frogs in these tiny tanks, maybe a quart. Toy store at my local mall had a ton of these. Extremely overpriced, around $50, and targeted at children. These kids will beg their parents to buy this for them and some parents will buy it. These frogs will live a miserable life and live another...

    Green Spotted Puffer

Okay, so I have an empty 30-gallon tank I'm setting up or selling so I was looking at fish for it. I came across the Green Spotted Puffer as an option. I did some reading and they seem like awful fish to keep. They don't get as big as other puffers yet are still extremely aggressive. Tankmates...

    Which fish should I get

Gourami is a good choice in my opinion and experience. We have an almost identical tank, except mine is 45 gallons with higher ph and I have cories. I have 2 Opaline Gourami in the tank and they only mess with each other. The smaller fish leave them alone also. I would say Opaline, Pearl, or...

Is this a Betta?? I want to help

Could use the gallon jug distilled water. They have a PH of 7 but it might be unrealistic with how high your PH is you'll probably need a lot. I'm not sure on the math but I would guess around 10 gallons of distilled should lower it enough, although someone else might have a better idea

Is this a Betta?? I want to help

He would be good for a little bit but sitch it over as soon as the new tank cycles.

    Betta Mates

    Okay thanks for the advice!
  25. Falconwithaboxon

    Betta Mates

Yeah I get that and I'm just going off what I see him act like. Chemically didn't even come to mind so that is interesting. I have a 45 gallon with a school of emerald cories and sand, should I just add the ones from the betta tank to my larger tank? Should I just keep the betta on his own in...
  26. Falconwithaboxon

    Betta Mates

Yeah I am aware of their aggression but cories and snails are things that this betta gets along with, they are in his 15-gallon tank. Since he is getting a tank twice the size I was wondering if there were any other fish that might work based on what he already gets along with
  27. Falconwithaboxon

    Betta Mates

I have started cycling a 29-gallon tank with black gravel substrate for my Betta fish and was wondering what fish might work well. I was thinking of a school of darker colored Cories(He currently lives with 5 Cories Emerald Cories) and some snails(rabbit maybe) but was wondering if there was...

    Broken Heater

Any glass or parts I could find have been removed, though probably small glass still in that me and the vac missed Did around 25% water change Fish observed and none showed any issues Bought a heater for around $40, forget the brand but works well so far

    Broken Heater

So I got home today and the heater in my tank was broken in half. I immediately took it out of the tank and went and bought a new one. I was just wondering if there's any issues that may have caused. All the fish are acting fine but there was what it looked like a chemical buildup, brown foam...

    Moving tips

Thanks for the advice. I will keep this in mind
  33. Falconwithaboxon

    Moving tips

Wow, these sound like some very good tips, especially the bags since I can have a bucket of just fish at the end while the tank heats up enough. I plan on doing each species in a bucket on their own. I don't really have anything to keep them warm so the move will be slightly more stressful sadly.

    Moving tips

I am moving into my first apartment and I was wondering if you guys had any tips for moving tanks. It's only a 15-minute drive but I am obviously still worried about my fish. I have a 45 gallon, 29 gallon, and 5 gallon. I am planning on just using a bunch of 5 gallon buckets. The 5 gallon tank...

  36. Falconwithaboxon

    Colombian spotted pleco

I have a Colombian spotted pleco (Sailfin I believe is another name for it) and wanted to know how big of a tank I need. He is in a 45 gallon right now and I know he needs bigger than that. Around 100? He is about 5 to 6 inches right now so how long until I would need to get him a bigger tank...

    A bit morbid

I do take them out when I clean, I keep the hole down so not much makes it into the shell also One tank has one shell and my other has 2 shells
