    Ember tetras or dwarf rasboras?

the dimensions of the interior are 38x26x32, so when filled it holds 8.3 gallons or 31.6 liters. I'd avoid pygmy cories since they're mad expensive at the store I usually go to (12€) I can share a pic of the setup as well if i need to :) and thanks for the info!

    Ember tetras or dwarf rasboras?

chili rasboras are boraras brigittae! b. maculata are basically the same but they're less red and they have a black spot near their fins instead of a long stripe.

    Ember tetras or dwarf rasboras?

I'm gonna be stocking up a new 8 gal planted tank in a few weeks, but I'm still not sure what to get. choice would be between h. amandae, b. brigittae or b. maculata, and it's all up to aesthetic, basically. I'm gonna start with 7 or 8 and get to a dozen later on. their tankmates will be 3...

    Dormouse getting an upgrade!

care wise, it's a less fussy sugar glider, but if I knew in hindsight that I wouldnt have been able to socialize with him at all I probably wouldn't have adopted him. i've tried really hard to get him to not be scared of my hand but the previous owner handled him quite roughly and since he had...

Freshwater fish for a 50 liters tank

I've already talked about cycling with @/PheonixKingZ I think. my plan is to use a big piece of diagonally oriented driftwood and plant hornworth on it, fill the mid and background with guppy grass and as you said java moss scattered on the sand, wood and rocks plus frogbit or duckweed on the...

whoah! those cories are pretty! ...but if I had to buy two for 92$, I'd definitely pass

Freshwater fish for a 50 liters tank

thank you! I've had many different kinds of pets in the past, from invertebrates to rodents to birds, so im used to always make sure I get every requirement right and never make decisions out of impulse. it seems like that's not the norm though  especially with how crudely most pet...

    orange porcellio scaber

...and this is my 5 gal reserved for orange isopods and sun beetles (in the near future, they're soon to emerge from their pupae) custom built, and the tape on the lid is for a paper towel I'm using to keep fruit flies outside :( they're a pain, and easily pass through the holes in the mesh...

    Dormouse getting an upgrade!

this is Tone, an african pygmy dormouse! I adopted him almost a year ago when his owner had to give him up after his partner died. his age is uncertain and he doesn't trust humans very much. I've had no luck finding him a playmate and I'm afraid he'd attack any other males...I'm way too used to...

Freshwater fish for a 50 liters tank

I totally understand. turns out my tap has a water softener, so I'll have to get my water from my garden hose to make sure any nerites I get don't grow up with a mineral deficiency, so we have a similar problem :S my native gh is 12, so they'll be fine, but I'll have to make sure I heat the...

    BioOrb flow 30?

under 50$ sounds great but if you're buying from someone you don't know I advise asking for proof to see if the LEDs and filter work properly, you never know. I'm looking for a 30l as well to start out and rarely I've seen anything new under 50€

    BioOrb flow 30?

I read @Ch4rlie 's review, then saw the pricetag. is it really worth it? I've seen some half decent, complete, nice looking 30l aquariums for half that price (230-320€) out there. the design does have charm to it, I agree. as for fish stocking or plants, I'd leave that question to someone who's...

    Hello! Aquatic Newcomer here

your tank looks amazing!!! just a heads up, my father used to keep angelfish with neon tetras and he had to separate them because the angels kept eating the poor lil fellows.

    Coronavirus...post your thoughts here...

agreed, absolutely! I won't comment on the digital currency thing but death rates are absolutely and definitely fake. I was told 4 people died in my town because of covid, and they were all people my dad knew. what was up with them? 3 were terminal cancer patients and the fourth was a morbidly...

Freshwater fish for a 50 liters tank

I did check out some italian sources (as that's my first language, so it's a bit easier to understand) are powdered dried mealworms a good source of fat and protein for shrimp and fish in general? I regularly feed them as a treat to my other fluffy pets. should i expect a fishless+plant cycle to...

Freshwater fish for a 50 liters tank

I do know about cycling! I was gonna use the fishless method, but I'm going to decorate the tank with live plants (will choose when I get the aquarium) and java moss, then maybe duckweed as a stupidly prolific food source. not to brag, but I'm an established houseplant enthusiast :) as for the...

Freshwater fish for a 50 liters tank

I found some neocaridina! a local store has a steady supply of them. I'd have to make my water way more acidic and mix it with with distilled water to make it softer though. how many should i begin with? they're sold at 6-9€ a shrimp, depending on color variant. and this is a dumb question...

Freshwater fish for a 50 liters tank

I had considered them before, but I was quickly turned off by the fact that they need snails to live healthily. I'm not sure I'd be able to stand that level of commitment. no single pygmy gourami either, with a couple of neocaridina davidi? edit: actually, nevermind that. I think I found a...

    Nymphaea pygmaea in nano tanks

huh. from what I've seen, they don't grow more than 50 cm in diameter, and they're quite scenic. they also don't require any more than 40cm of height for their roots they do like sunlight though (like most water lillies), that's probably the biggest issue. if it turns out almost nobody has tried...

    Nymphaea pygmaea in nano tanks

hello! does anyone have experience with planting pygmy water lilies in bigger nano freshwater tanks (30-60L), especially for fish who prefer shady environments? would the lighting be an issue? most kinds should be hardy enough, and I don't think it could be that hard to trim in case it becomes...

dont worry about your post, I was just making sure you guys didn't start any beef haha I'll think about the betta. shrimp... sure, if I manage to find any. fancy shrimp arent widely available here and japanese shrimp look fairly bland  a betta wouldn't attack a snail, would it? im sure...
