What algae is this and how do I get rid of it?

I would get an old toothbrush and gently use it to comb the algae away, wrapping it around the brush. Lower the brightness of the light in your tank, and maybe shorten the amount of time that your light is being left on.

    Platy not swimming?!

Thanks so much for jumping in here! It's such a nightmare isn't it - every single stockist, store, manufacturer and hobbyist all have different opinions on everything and I never end up knowing what the best thing to do is.
