    Oase Biomaster 350 Thermo

I had not thought of that, it would make sense! It was the only reason I could think of for the trays being stuck around the heater and the heater also being stuck. I have thought there may be too much in there, I will try removing the course foam in the bottom tray and filter floss and see if...

    Oase Biomaster 350 Thermo

Thank you for all the replies. I have now cleaned all the pipes, they were not blocked but did have some black residue in them. I have removed the white fine floss. Unfortunately I could not check the impeller, all but one of the trays holding the bio media are now completely stuck, as is the...

    Oase Biomaster 350 Thermo

Hi all I have a 200l tank and I am using the above external filter which is having some problems. Every few days the flow rate drops to literally nothing. I clean out the canister, The intake and outflow parts in the tank, expel the air, start it up and a load of crap floods out of the outlet...

    Inherited Loaches

Thank you both for your replies, the local fish shop has agreed to take the loaches and I have a small 12L tank or a 54L tank which the Betta could go in, they are usually my nursery and quarantine tanks. The substrate is JBL Manado, it says it is ok for bottom dwellers, would you agree with them?

    Inherited Loaches

Hi there I have just inherited a 200L tank with some corys, cardinal tetras, a male betta, a single clown loach and a single yo-yo loach. Am I correct in thinking these 2 loaches should not be living together, and they should be in groups rather than singles? Is it ok for the Betta to be here...

Keeping a tank cycled with eggs and babies

Hi I have a small 12 litre cycled tank and a Tupperware tub of 15 baby city’s hatching as we speak. It is a small tank but whilst they are so tiny I plan to keep them in here whilst I sort something better, once they are big enough I will move them to the adult tank. My question is, are 15...

    Worried about Boris

Hi Thank you for coming back, I am not sure where you are seeing gunk, I haven’t posted a pic of the bottom, there is no gunk on the bottom of my tank. I will try the 75% water change and rock salt, will that help him not being able to suck on anything?

    Worried about Boris

Thank you all for your thoughts, there is definitely some issue with his sucking. We did have a bare heater until a week ago and I replaced it with one with a cover on it so that could be what happened to his belly. We have Manado substrate which says is fine for bottom dwellers so would be...

    Worried about Boris

That is a relief, I wouldn't want to harm him, I might still get the bigger tank, I was all excited for an excuse to get another one :)

    Worried about Boris

I feed him a plec tablet every night, he used to go straight for it but now he ignores it, and cucumber once a week. I put bloodworms and brine shrimp in for the others twice a week, I don't know if he would eat those. I'll get some other things for him to try, in the meantime, I have some algae...

    Worried about Boris

He used to suck onto things, he would suck about all day. I have been watching him for a while trying to get a good look but he is hiding up the corner. I have taken some better pictures, (I didn't want to upset him, but I took one with a flash to see if it helped). he doesn't look in a good...

    Worried about Boris

Thank you for coming back so quickly, I will get him a bigger tank on Monday, thinking 200L, might as well go bigger rather than slightly bigger. I am not sure, looking at him I am not sure he can move it, do they usually close their mouths? I have only ever seen him sucking on things or...

    Worried about Boris

Thank you for coming back to me, I should confirm that is 24 UK gallons, so 28 US gallons or 107 Litres so only 6 litres short of what you are suggesting, would 6 litres make that much of a difference? I did a 50% water change this morning and it has made no difference. As mentioned in my post...

    Worried about Boris

Hi I am new to fishkeeping and have had my tank for approx 3 months. It is fully cycled. Boris, my Bristlenose Catfish has been acting strangely for the last few days. We have had him for about a month, he has been very active, sucking on driftwood, plants and glass at all times of the day, he...
