    What is eating my plant?

I knew that about plecos, didnt realise the same was true about loaches though. Thanks for the info. I suppose I should have guessed it since they spend all their time rooting around for food! I'll be moving the plants to my guppy fry tank and I'll be carrying on with the big water changes.

    What is eating my plant?

This tank drives me crazy with sediment, my other tank has nowhere near as much. Believe it or not I vacuumed this tank two days ago. I'd love to know why it accumulates so fast. I've wondered if the yoyos are kicking it up from their constant rooting through the substrate.

    What is eating my plant?

I'm fairly new to plants so identification is not my thing. I think the plant in question is wisteria though. Research leads me to believe it's my rainbow fish of which I have only two, but why would they eat it from the bottom up like this? Seems more likely to be a bottom feeder. Would a yoyo...

My first tropical freshwater tank! :)

Live plants equals healthier happier fish. Faster growing ones suck up more of your unwanted chemicals. Technically you could add more neons if your tank had lots of plants and kept up the same water change regime but I'd wait because neons are sensitive fish and should really only be added to a...

    Tank will not cycle

Have you checked your hoses? Might be something stuck in there. I primed my fluval filter a few times when the flow was poor and the pressure ejected some debris. Flow has been strong since. I'm getting the picture that your substrate is to blame for your ammonia. Might be an idea to change it...

    Tank will not cycle

Is it possible the inside of the tank has been cleaned with some form of cleaning product in the past? Perhaps the ammonia is residue from that? Whatever the cause, I'd suggest finding a temporary home for your fish and doing a deep clean on the tank and the substrate. Perhaps even change the...

    Clown loaches unhappy

Clowns are a schooling fish and tend to be timid in small numbers. They will be more outgoing if you add more. You need a very large tank indeed to keep more than a few though. Aquarium Coop on YouTube had a very large clown school in a tank if you want an idea.

My travels through the Tropical Fish Hobby

If only we could all enjoy koi. It's too cold in our area. I would feel bad for them!

    Red blob

Hi. I wish I could post a clearer picture but I only have my phone and that was the best pic I could get from the dozens i took. It's a 160l tank. I have the tetras, a rainbow fish pair, some yoyos and a baby ancistrus. I'd say its fully stocked. The water parameters are stable, no ammonia...

PLEASE HELP! Multiple mistakes made, but I’m learning.

Hi. I use API quick start for getting tanks up and running and it's a great product. Its pretty much the same thing as tetra safe start I believe. Basically it just contains bacteria that will munch your ammonia and nitrites as they appear. The bacteria will die at first because you wont have...

    Red blob

Hi all. One of my black widows has a red blob in its fin. I though at first a pond snail had attached itself but it has been there for days and it seems to protrude on both sides. Anyone have any idea what it could be? Thanks in advance.

    Help identifying a Betta!

His lack of colouration could indicate stress. it's unlikely he will look dramatically different when settled but some colour might appear. If he's stressed act as quickly as you can to reduce it. Any way in which you can better conditions in the tank will help.

    A. Fry

My fry always survive, I think it's because I feed their parents well enough that they don't feel the need to eat fry. Places to hide are important too. You're biggest problem could be what to do with them when they grow. If we're talking guppies, there could be over 100 of them in there by the...
