Algae Identification and Possible Course of Treatment

Hoping for some help identifying what type of algae I have in my tank. I tried taking a picture of the algae tangled in some of the Lilaeopsis brasiliensis in the tank. The color doesn't show well, but in this one it is brown in color, although there are some other clumps of it that seem to be...

    Skittish L333 King Tiger Plecos

I have recently acquired 6 juvenile L333 King Tiger plecos. I've placed them in a 50 gallon tank with my wife's guppies. Since dropping them in, I've never seen more than 2 out on the sand substrate. They are always hiding within a big piece of driftwood. It's been 2 weeks now and I'm not even...

    Egg for guppy fry?

I've tried the Hikari First Bites pictured above for guppy fry. They seem to do okay with it. Growth rates better feeding live baby brine shrimp, but there is always that trade-off between convenience and 'best'. Personally, since I'm not developing a line of guppies or anything, the powdered...

    Stocking for 55gallon

I would agree with @seangee on adding more of the tetras you already have. On the otos, they definitely benefit a lot from being in a bigger group, and are less skittish when there are more of them, in my experience. I'd prioritize adding more otos first, maybe around 4-6, then more neons. If...

Yup. It is from South America. Definitely invasive here in the Philippines if that was caught in the wild. The common pleco, Hypostomus plecostomus, is another problematic invasive species in our rivers.

Now I'm curious to find out where exactly that is. Imagine being able to swim alongside those monsters. Hopefully it doesn't get out of whatever pen or pond it's currently in. We've had a number of environmental disasters already with local aquatic life being crowded out by invasive species.

That's an Arapaima gigas. Those fish get really huge!

New Guppy Suddenly Pooping Stringy Poop

Any other tankmates with the same symptoms? If yes, it is most probably an internal parasite that may require treatment.

How Do I Clean Off The Hard White Stuff Above Water Lvl?

Maybe try soaking a rag in white vinegar, wring it until damp and try wiping down the area you want to clean. It's going to take some patience and a lot of elbow grease though. If possible, leave the soaking rag on the canopy or area of the bracing for 10 minutes before you start scrubbing. If...

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! There are some really serious fishkeepers here. A lot of people into monster fish and of course, saltwater. Some of the reef tanks folks maintain over here are really colorful! Let's see if I can get some shots from some of my friends' tanks and share those.

Just dropping a note to say hi to everyone as I'm new to the forums. Not that new to fishkeeping, as I've maintained multiple tanks over the years, but had to give most of them up when I moved out of our house. I'm looking to get back now and try some new stuff like keeping planted tanks, so...
