one gallon for one inch of fish. So if your fish is 5 inches, then you need 5 gallons just for that fish... i dont know that in british terms, but i do know that all those fish you mentioned can be together.i suggest a 30 gallon for a beginner

i think they are more active with company. For instance, i had a pleco for a while now, he was very boring and didn't move much, i got another pleco in the same 20 gallon, they move both around the tank, but not with each other. but i'm saying, if a common pleco can live without a heater and no side effects, than why not put him in cold water? Heaters are expensive around chicago...

i only had one and he did well with livebearers.. he stayed under the water flow from the filter all the time..... he's a peaceful and barely moves... He don't bother or harass any other fish just to let you know... They do eat alot and somwetimes eat everythign and leave otherfish hanging...

can anyone share some information about pictus catfishes and their care? i just bought a pictus catfish with a jack dempsey in a 20gallon. Those are the only ones in the tank right now
