Thanks. Yes, I would imagine I have harder water vs soft. I looked online but couldn’t find GH. I’ll try again another time when I have more time to search. I have the RainSoft home water filtration system. Not sure if it would affect hardness but it’s nice bc it removes chlorine, fluoride, etc-...
Oh, I forgot I have 2 small bristle nose plecos! My pH is generally between 7.4 - 7.8, and the temp is now at 79F. I did have it higher previously at around 83F. I don't know the GH. We have gravel.
My pH is generally between 7.4 - 7.8. I do not know the GH at this time and not sure when I will have time to call and find, out as I work full time and have 3 children...the last thing I will be thinking about any time soon is doing that :( I do not have soft water, that's for sure.
Hi Everyone!
I am upgrading to a 75 gallon tank very soon. I would like to get some cool, colorful, beautiful fish to add and I'm looking for suggestions of really cool (but not over expensive) fish that I can add with the fish I currently have. I really wanted a peacock African cichlid (b/c...
Thanks, I just keep them in a breeder box (I don’t use breeder boxes for the mama fish) and I just feed them ground up fish flakes. My other fry are thriving under these conditions. :)
I absolutely agree with you, I never would have been able to do that. I was just curious about other people's experience with it. I woke up this morning and she was finally having her fry! I didn't even want to go to work! lol Needless to say, I am very eager to get home after work, and check...
Yes she was with another (allegedly) pregnant molly but her belly wasn’t completely boxed off quite yet, so my best guess was that they came from the other one. I ordered PraziPro on amazon so I’ll have that in a few days. I suppose I’ll treat any new fish with that moving forward.
Yes, all of my fish are eating fine. The poop looks normal for the most part. Sometimes there are parts of the poop that are stringy and/or clear but only small sections of it. There is already salt added, but I can up the temp. The fish I posted a pic of is not rubbing, but a different platy...
Its not worms. She’s pregnant. Birth stalled, something is wrong. The babies are stuck inside.
You’re guessing this fish has parasites but my other fish is “probably just fat”?
So...you think my fish needs to be treated, or it doesn’t? You said don’t treat it, but then gave very detailed instructions on how to treat it. All 3 of my platies have red by their gills. Is this normal? The product I bought was Artemiss. I don’t know what’s in it bc it’s not listed on the...
So....I know some people have done this but the thought of doing this myself makes me very uncomfortable, as I do not want to cause any pain or discomfort, injury, or God forbid death to the fish. I have a molly who has been pregnant for a very long time, about two weeks ago she began giving...
LFS recommended something for dropsy. I have a liquid product that I bought for bacterial infections but my question now is could my other fish potential he be infected with this as well? Should I treat all of my fish? I feel like that is the rule of thumb for most fish illnesses but just wanted...
Hi everyone,
Could someone tell me if my poor little platy might have internal parasites or what you think could be wrong with him? I have had him a few weeks and thought it was strange he would have such a round belly advantage a male...now his gills are red. I also purchased 2 females at that...
I ALWAYS vacuum the gravel with water changes; this is an exception for me. I am not going to do this while the fish are in labor and they are already clearly stressed since they have been holding their fry in for a very long time. They are likely not yet used to the siphon/gravel cleanings and...
Thank you :) I actually did a pretty decent water change yesterday as soon as I got home from work. I have been putting off vacuuming the gravel and disturbing the tank much to not stress them out but I was becoming concerned about the cleanliness of the water. I didn't even want to do a water...
Hi, no I didn't move them at all. They had been in the same tank at least 3-4 weeks prior to going into labor. They are still in the same tank. There are plenty of hiding/safe spots.
Thanks! The only problem is ...her labor has stalled. We only have 4 babies total so far and she is still super pregnant...She is in the breeding tank with another pregnant molly who is also in labor (I know this based on behavior and also the light gray area that develops where the babies...
Hi everyone! In your own experience, what is the longest your mollies were pregnant before they actually gave birth? Second, have your mollies more often given birth during the day, at night, or about 50/50. Please, I am not looking for generic, rule-of-thumb info. I’ve read all of that, lots of...
