Hi, Thanks for your response. It is a 40 litre tank. I have 8 Cardinal tetras and 1 Fighter. I also have live plants. I do weekly 15% water changes and use 50% RO water and 50% tap as the water here is hard. Ammonia = 0 Nitrites = 0 Nitrates = can’t be read on chart as they are so low Tank...

Hi, I got 3 Amano shrimp to help clean up in my tank. They're just too hyper and are scaring my fish. Which other shrimp could I replace them with (preferably ones that won't breed). Thanks, Dan

Apparently this is a substrate and supposedly 900g = the surface area of a football pitch. Bold claim! The fish seem to intentionally dive into this, they then lose their colour. It's as if they're trying to hide.

@Byron Sounds great! I was told by the store I can keep the swords in the small pot it came in as I don't have soil as a substrate. Do you think this is sustainable?

Oh wow, I didn't know it was algae lol. Can it just be wiped off? Also, do you recommend I use fertiliser or nutrients going forward? And that's very kind of you to mention. With regard to Amano shrimp, there isn't much flat ground due to decorations. Will this be a problem for them? Thanks

No fertiliser used. New to fishkeeping and don’t know much on the plants side of things. Just wanted a place for the fish to hide and feel comfortable. Pics attached.

I know using RO is a pain, however if it broadens the range of fish I could put in the tank I’m happy to do so.

That’s correct, hard water. However my LFS sells RO water and happy to mix.

Tank is 10 gallon. 40cm circumference. Hoping this doesn’t have a huge effect on numbers and suitability. If not cardinals could you suggest any other type of colourful schooling fish?
