It's a hob filter and I think the sound is coming from the motor/impeller so putting a towel under it won't do anything.

I returned my Fluval C3 and bought the C4 and it's louder than the C3 was! I even lubed it with Super Lube Synthetic Grease. The intake tube is sitting properly in it and I unplugged and plugged it back in 4 times and that did nothing. What is up? Will this noise go away?

To those who have and use the Seachem Ammonia test kit; do I have to rinse the sensors before putting them in the water sample or can I just drop them in the water sample straight from the container?

Does really play a big role in the growth of diatoms? I have my lights on for 6 hrs. and diatoms are still growing. So if I increased the photoperiod of my lights would that really make a difference?

I have a lid on the tank so I don't see how dust could be falling into the tank.
