New 300L Tank, Ideas, Help, Tips Etc.

Planning to brace it just to be safe! Have ordered an external filter rated to 400L which should do the job for now but maybe will have to add to that if I stock the tank with something messy!

New 300L Tank, Ideas, Help, Tips Etc.

Hi Everyone, I am just about to start a new tank build and decided that in order to save some money I am going to build my own aquarium. Ordered some acrylic cut to size and a suitable sealant last night. The tank should be 150cm x 50cm x 50cm (300L or 72gal for our US friends!) I was wondering...

    New Blue Rams

They are irritatingly sensitive but I fancied the challenge so I shall persevere, the ones that I purchased are larger than most other shop bought Rams that I have seen and according the the store are bred locally..   I will be putting a lot of time into them so of course will be doing regular...

Help, Fish Dying, No Obvious Cause (Picture)

I don't have the space or money to QT fish either and I'm like you, very rarely have any issues with health..  Hopefully it isn't going to do any more damage to you or your fish, good luck!

Help, Fish Dying, No Obvious Cause (Picture)

Perhaps they have introduced some illness into the tank? Did you QT them?  It is awful losing fish especially with the carpet damage adding insult to injury! Hope it all works out for you!

Help, Fish Dying, No Obvious Cause (Picture)

That sounds like a good precaution to take! If they are still going now (is it up to a decent temperature now?) Obviously rams are super sensitive to everything really and I think it was the initial shock that did for them so I would hope that yours would be ok as I had other fish in the tank...

    New Nano Tank Ideas Please?

I want to start a new 30L planted nano aquarium with shrimp or some small fish, possibly a mixture of both but have little knowledge about shrimp! Does anyone have any suggestions to what they would put in this?

Help, Fish Dying, No Obvious Cause (Picture)

What was the temperature change like? I don't know anything about rainbowfish but I know some fish react badly to fluctuations in temperature.  I lost some Rams when I had to do an emergency refill like you as they seemed to go into shock upon contact with the cold water that I added and died...

Sorry for being really basic and patronising but did you dechlorinate the water that you used to refill the tank with?

    New Blue Rams

Is RO water expensive as I am on a tight budget!? My LFS didn't say anything about Wild Caught or F1 etc.. but the fish from there are always very healthy and have been quarantined. The water is pristine so far and I will start regular water changes once they have settled in. I have also...

    Easiest Tropical Fish To Maintain?

I have always found cherry barbs and glow light tetras to be hardy and easy to care for and the cherry barbs always seem to have great personalities!

    New Blue Rams

I don't know the exact pH of my water but it is fairly high compared to what Rams are used to as I live in a hard water area.. My LFS is very nearby and seemed to think that they would perhaps not be too happy at first but would acclimatise. Driftwood is supposed to lower the pH isn't it?  I...

    Hello I'm New To Here!

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum. I started tropical fish keeping nearly 10 months ago and have struggled along until very recently so I thought I'd join here to learn even more and share some of my problems and solutions! Haha

What Would Be A Good Small Algae Eater?

I have a small Bristlenose Plec in my 25gal tank and it does a great job despite only being a few inches long.  I would wait until your tank is properly established before adding an algae eater however.

    New Blue Rams

I have just had a reshuffle and have purchased 2 beautiful Blue Rams from my LFS. The temp in the tank is at a constant 28 degrees C and I have properly acclimatised them. It is planted as well as a piece of driftwood to give them plenty of hiding sports. They are happily swimming around but was...
