Cycle or stabiliser should help this issue by lowering these levels. Its caused by not enough bacteria in the tank.

when cycling you shpuld be checking the ammonia and nitrite levels however they will often correct themselfs after a spike in turn. mine did this when i got my new tank. those top fish are defdinately tiger barbs. aggro fish very nippy you need 8plus to manage them. the bottom fish id say is...

i will just add......do not add too many fish at once or the ammonia levels can spike and they will die quickly. just add a fer every so many days or weeks to let the filter cope with the waste levels from the fish. goodluck. :-)

i dont think its overstocked but i have not much experience with these types of fish. however i do know that you need more than two juli cory cats. about 6 is good. panda corys are ok in 2s however more is better. pandas also stay very small.

tetras are super easy, neons or cardinals, glowlights, rummynoses, black tetras. get them in large numbers. about 5 or more. the more the better. rummynoses and black tetras school in larger numbers so they would be great.

neon tetras and cardinals are not schooling fish they are shoaling fish. however black tetras are schooling and would be ideal. you can tell if fish are schooling fish or not if you wave your hand in front of a tank with large numbers, schooling fish will swim side to side in groups. However...

I have two Gouramis a smaller blue female and a bigger Pearl male. they v lived together for probably over a year but just today iv seen the male chasing the female. This has never hapened before...any idea what hes up to?

I usually 25%water change about every 2-3 weekS. I dont recommend doing a big change so often as this might shock the fish. Maybe 5-10% every few days if you must do it.:-)

Im not sure how big a 10gallon is as we measure in litres here in nz but it seems that its quite small. In terms of cory cats i have 2 pandas in my 60 litre and they are very happy. Pandas stay very small in terms of corys so a good choice. They are about $16 each here.

Welcome! I recommend community fish to start with. Theyr usually easy to start with. Some tetras and maybe some corydoras. Remember to get at minimum 5 of each species as they like to school. the more of each the better. :-)
