In the past I've sometimes found a larger than average water change can bring on the egg laying.   I normally do about 20% per week, but I did a 50% change and 24 hours later I had eggs!   I'd be interested if you did separate the eggs to see how you get on with them, I've only tried this once...

I've seen it quite a lot with other juvenile cichlids, Angels, Sajica, Acara they take a little time to adapt to new food types. I tend to use granules and at first they would bite them and spit them out, they quickly learnt to not do this...  

Think about what he would eat in the wild, scraps of vegetation, bits of dead animals, just about anything that goes past them basically, a slightly dry piece of fish flake won't cause any problems at all.

Hi there, you want to try and wash as much of the bleach off as possible, then allow it to dry out completely. Leaving the lid off over night should be fine. I'd then give it another rinse to be sure.   A little bit of patience should be all you need.

Reminds me of an article I saw on planet catfish  while back about people using plecos to keep algae down in unused swimming pools in the florida area. The fish seemed healthy enough and I think the only bones of contention were about the risk of them escaping into the local environment.

I basically work on the same principle with plants, ones its harder to kill than keep alive.   I have Anubias, java fern and amazon swords in the tank and thriving. I trim dead leaves off maybe once a month but otherwise leave them to it. they are usually pretty lush and green. 

If you can remove as much hard scaping as you can whilst you are doing it, that can help....   Danio's are a nightmare, I had one in a tank for Months after his buddies had been moved on, just because I couldn't catch him. In the end, I drained water to about 1" before I got him!!!!
